First off look at your stats - 76 days - do you really want to through them away? Really now. So you went to a AA function, are you a friend of Bill W? If so you know the steps. Start repeating the first 3 now!!! I am powerless over cig and they make my life unmanagable, came to believe a power greater than my can return me to sanity, made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him. Sereinty Prayer!!! Come on Denise, what would you say to a newcomer? Snap out of it! This site need you!!! Denise, I just wanted to stop by and say you are going to be fine. This is a horrible addiction and the journey gets to be really rough at times. Keep putting one foot in front of the other. That is all we can do. Parrotlady. There are days like this for all of us. After 76 days, you know that these feelings will pass if you just hang on. Go back to the tools you used to get you through in the beginning. They still work. Keep repeating to yourself "I have come too far and I'm not giving up now". Say this to yourself over and over again. As you hand out those smokes at work, look at the people you are handing them too and how desperate they are for that fix. You may WANT a cigarette right now and you may be craving really bad but you do not NEED that fix like they do. Remember when we thought that if we didn't have a smoke right away we would just die! Those days are over. Now it is a want and it is your choice whether or not to give in to that want. You choose. What do you want to do? Look deep inside of yourself and ask yourself a question. Do you want to continue along the journey of a lifetime to freedom from the enslavement of smoking? or Do you want turn around, throw everything you have worked so hard for away, and go back to where you came from? I will give you a little bit of advise I have picked up from being around here for over a year. Those that decide to turn around and go back, spend a long time trying to get back to where you are now. It is so much easier to just hold on, let these feelings pass, and move forward. Refuse to give in to the addiction ever again. You are planning to ..... 1. Give up your power. You have the power to make a choice now. 2. Go back to smoking. It's not just one Denise. Have you read the Rookery. I'm smoking and wishing I could be where you are right now. 3. Poison yourself. 4. Give up on a commitment you made to yourself. You will feel terrible. 5. Make it hard to breathe. 6. Ask for nausea....may vomiting. 7. Waste hard earned money. 8. Smokers cough. It doesn't take long to come back. 9. Go through hell, heck, and blah week again. 10. Have to come here and post that you slipped or worse, relapsed. Yep, that's what you are planning. You are giving that Junkie way too much attention. Scream at him. You do not smoke Densie!!!! Get up and do something. Come my way, I have 2 feet of snow shoveling you can help me with. It's a choice!!!!! Don't seem to be able to stop, Denise? Of course you can. You have done it for 76 days. You know that all you have to do is not smoke. Are you planning on going back to your previous level of consumption? Do you think you have another quit in you? It's a shame that you got drenched in cigarette smoke last night. I'm really sorry about that. But are you going to let that knock you off your game? Of course you're not. Take a hot shower, cleanse yourself. Take deep breaths. Go somewhere outdoors if you can, for some really fresh air. Refresh yourself, refresh your quit. I know that you are not going to give up. Tell us what's really going on though so we can help. You've thrown nothing away, Denise. You have gained so much to build on. Today marks a new year and a new beginning for each of us. Let's all move forward with faith, strength and confidence that we are not alone and that all is well.
