Now, this is going to sound like a strange thing for me to think of but here goes. Today I watched the movie "March of the Penguins." I know, you're wondering what the heck does that has to do with being a Non Smoker. LOL
Well, you have these short little guys waddling for 70 miles, in the dead of winter, and in the coldest place on earth so they can mate and produce life. These poor little guys have it rough. For 9 months both male and female march along taking this journey because LIFE is so important to them. AND they have short, short legs. AND, after they get to the breeding ground and mate, they have to stay there and walk around with those big chick eggs ON TOP OF THEIR FEET. Then later, they walk around on the ice with chicks ON TOP OF THEIR FEET. Little short steps, freezing their asses off, while balancing those big chick eggs, or the chicks ON TOP OF THEIR FEET. Of course, they huddled up together for body warmth. The penguins took turns allowing the ones on the outside of their huddle to be in the middle for warmth. These little guys looked miserable but they never gave up. And every single year they go through this process again FOR 9 MONTHS!!
So what's my point? I saw them working as a large entity, protecting each other with one goal in mind and that was to give life. I saw them working against the most horrible conditions to protect that life. (Did I mention with a big egg or a chick ON TOP OF THEIR FEET?!!)
I thought about us and how we work together. We're marching on a journey too (Freedom), we're protecting each other(Our support for each other), battling the elements (Old Nic), and the life we're protecting is our own and the lives of each other (Maintaining our Quit).
I seriously felt like a wimp after watching that movie. We have each other, we're warm, we may have cravings, but we do have legs to speak of and we're not waddling those little bitty steps while balancing eggs or chicks ON TOP OF OUR FEET!! LOL
Hugs,
Tutti
