Try, I am not even close to being qualified to comment. I just want you to know that I think something really good has happened here and you have possibly surpassed a major milestone. All I can do is bump this up and hope someone more experienced and worthy will catch it and offer some wisdom. My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/16/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 52 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,048 Amount Saved: $145.6 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 2 Mins: 24 Seconds: 55

Hi tryagain Healer is correct and lots of us get tempted in the earlier days. Yea you have a puff and bam you could be right back at it. Best to grow your quit, put the miles on and whatever cicumstances cross your path always remember this "Smoke is not an opiton" anymore, forget about it. Hello tryagain - Please be careful - that 'little experimental puff' was a puff, any way ya look at it. Don't tease your quit, or underestimate this addiction... we are all one puff away from smoking as we say around here and an experimental puff is a puff, friend. Sure hope the dog is safe and in a new forever home soon... I had a really bad experience. Someone dumped their dog on me. A woman dropped her dog off and never came back. This infuriates me. Whatever you think angry and furious is, multiply it by ten or 20. I smash things, throw things, scream, swear, and if the person was in front of me, quite likely engage in a beatdown they would not forget if they survived. I was thusly involved when a customer agitated by my antics lit a cig right in my shop. I said "I want a cigarette so bad, I can hardly stand it" so the guy handed me his cigarette. I took it, took one little experimental puff. It was not as bad as I expected. I coughed, but not choked like I normally do. Not like I expected. Of course it wasn't like a real deep drag either. It tasted vile, of course. I handed the cig back to the guy and said "Thanks for the offer but I don't smoke. Neither do the animals so if you would step outside I'd appreciate it." Last night I reran the incident in my dreams except it wasn't one cigarette it was a whole pack. It wasn't one little half hearted puff, it was a whole cigarette. I dreamed that I had this pack of cigarettes and flushed them down the toilet because I don't smoke. I'm a non-smoker. Something in my head shifted gears almost without knowing. This morning I was well into my morning before I realized that I did not have the morning crave. Something has changed, some fundamental part of the way I think of myself. Once I admitted to myself and publicly to being a non-smoker, some synapse clicked into another place. I don't know if I'm explaining this correctly or even making sense at all. By the way, the dog, a beautiful white toy sized poodle had to go to rescue. He will stay in rescue for two weeks the legal time limit for my obligation to keep him, then he will be placed. There are already a few homes wanting him. It's a mind game. Instead of saying I'm quitting, I've quit, take it beyond that part. I'm a non-smoker. I don't smoke. It's a different feeling altogether. I assume that I will continue to get cravings because the nature of the beast is to fight by way of cravings. The question is, will I be able to fight back by being a non-smoker instead of a person in the process of quitting! This is far more complicated than I thought it would be. Tryagain, Be angry & stay angry ! Take your furiousness (if there is sucha word) out on the nicotine addiction & say goodbye to cravings cos you're over it !. Don't you go feeling guilty cos i made the same mistake myself it it's a real eye opener, i Remember my experience well ... the feeling of hot ash burning into my throat & lungs making me cough & how the 'ahhhh' feeling never came !:8o:
The question is, will I be able to fight back by being a non-smoker instead of a person in the process of quitting!
The answer is yes.. you are a non-smoker cos 'you don't want to smoke' remember. Our addiction to nicotine is a disease, we don't need to fight back. If you need to be angry, channel anger directly at the disease & the bloody tobacco companies.
