Wow what great advice here! And the support is very touching to me. I have been here only a few days and already feel like I have many great new friends! Thanks! I am feeling better today and getting ready for my quit date tomorrow! This group I know will be a big help to me! Hi Elisa thanks! That would be very helpful if we team up to encourage each other. :) Wow 5 kids how do you do it? I have 2 of my own and one step son. My 15 years old daughter drives me crazy! How many girls do you have I find that my daughter is a lot harder to raise then the boys. I don't think I could handle more then one girl. lol My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/8/2007 Smoke-Free Days: -1 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 0 Amount Saved: $0 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 0 Mins: 0 Seconds: 0

I have been trying so hard to quit smoking seems everytime I stop they start fighting over stupid stuff! My 15 year old has been yelling and screaming all day. I can't take it so once again I ended up smokeing again! My hubby is chasing her around the house yelling back at her I keep asking them to stop fighting but they won't! I hate fighting yelling and screaming why can't they just leave each other alone? I have asked them to help me but they just keep stressing me out coming over to me yelling at me about what the other is doing, its driving me crazy! I set here in silence as my daughter yells at me about her father, then she insults me about wanting to quit. So here I am on cig 4 for the day :( I need and want to quit for me! For my health, my lungs burn from smoking I can't breath I hate cigs they are killing me but yet they control my life! Help me!

Hi again Chrissy, I had 3 boys, and 2 girls. My girl is 16. We argue too. It's just the age where things get a lil harder... I am probably alot older, cuz I have 8 grandkids too. I haven't picked a quit date yet, but I'm trying to get help from the nice people on this website. keep in touch! I really do want to do this, and I can tell you do too. :)

I know how you feel. I had 5 kids. I want to quit too, but when the stress comes, I reach for a cig. Not only that, but the price just sky rocketed on cigs. and my husband says were quitting. More pressure. Maybe we can encourage each other.

Chrissy, I just read a post that says it all. It hit straight to my heart. It's a post called reflections by Luna. Read it. She is a great person to lay it all out on the table for us. And she is now free of smoking.

Chrissy, Take the methodical approach and analyze what your triggers are and then map out a plan on how to deal with them. You've done the first part already - you're trigger is your husband and daughter fighting. The next part is to figure out what to do about it. Personally, I would walk out and go do something else until they tire themselves out. But if that isn't pratical maybe grabbing a walkman and blasting your favorite music to drown out the fighting whilst locked in another room. They'll get the message soon enough. Tell them you are determined to quit and although you won't turn your back on them, ou won't communicate by yelling either. Truth is you may not ever get the optimal situation going but quitting is so important you will need to find a way to cope. Stay close to us and post often and we will help you through it. chrissy, you have had some marvellous advice here, the main thing i have found is you have to believe in yourself, if you do that you can do anything this is not easy but it is doable as for the family, let them yell at each other for a bit keep up the good work lynnexx My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/24/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 75 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,125 Amount Saved: 300 Life Gained: Days: 8 Hrs: 10 Mins: 31 Seconds: 3

Chrissy You need to come to the realization that picking up a smoke in time of crises is not the answer. Just don't go there, it is not the answer. It won't help you one bit so relax. Now how do you get the 15 years old to stop bumping heads with dad? Any ideas?

Chrissy, You've received a wealth of great advice from your fellow quitters! I can only echo them. This quit is yours and yours alone. You are responsible for it and must keep it safe. If fighting with your family is a trigger try setting some ground rules to help you get through the next few weeks. For instance: If they are yelling at you or each other, walk away. That's it. Give them and yourself time to cool down. Instead of picking up a cigarette, replace this habit with a new one that will help bring your emotions down to a workable level. Keep close.
