Just checking in, and getting some thoughts out. I'm starting day 3 (except for the 1/2 smoke yesterday morning), but this morning I wizzed right by the gas station. I'm so determined to do this. I'm on the correct patch now (21mg versus the 14mg I was on) so today seems much better. Work doesn't seem to be a problem. Stress for me is the problem. Anytime I have had any type of stress in my life, I would light up. It didn't remove the stress, just delayed it for 7 minutes while I smoked. The cigerette didn't make the stressor go away, it didn't give me a solution, and physically it was stimulating me rather than calming me down. I am currently trying to come up with ways to deal with stress. For example, the holidays, even though a time with family and friends, also a stressor. My husband was trying to discuss what was going to be on the menu for our Thanksgiving dinner last night, and as he is talking to me, I could feel the horns sprouting out of the top of my head....WHY! The conversation didn't end well, and I accussed him and his mother (whom he hasn't even discussed Thanksgiving with yet) of conspiring against me....what kind of lunatic am I! I ended up going to bed at 7:00 p.m., for fear he would call the gentleman in white coats to come take me away because I had lost all touch with reality. Anyways, my goal the next couple of days is to wait 10 seconds before allowing my razor mouth to speak. It is not my husband's or my kid's fault that I am certifiable, and a nice long pause before answering or speaking might just keep me from the funny farm. Thanks for listening! Kaitilina, Please know that you are not alone! Quitting isn't easy and can make emotions run high. It's still important for you take those 7 minutes to bring your stress levels back down, you just have to replace that cigarette with something else. Keep persevering, it gets better. Kaitilina!! You are just fine. It is rough and I remember ripping my husband's head off (not literally Phil lol) when I "lost" it. I was like that through hell and heck week. Its normal. I agree though, I had to count to myself 10 seconds before I opened my mouth because I was constantly screeming at someone, if I wasn't crying. You will make it through cause i will be right there helping you!! Hi again!! Kind of funny, because before I quit, I was sometimes a raging lunatic!! However, I was hypnotized to quit, and I think that has helped calm me down. I have been so calm, and patient. ALl except for several weeks that I was a royal bit** to everyone. My kids took the brunt of my frusteration since I am with them 24/7. Even one of my daughters friends said I am such a nagger!! And she was only 8!! I always felt angry, depressed and tired. All of the time. Turns out I was in a major depressive state, and luckily I got help. I am on meds, and I feel WONDERFUL!! I am back to my nicey nice, respectable self again ~ with only very few outbursts. My point being, if something is not working for you, seek help. Maybe a new med is in order. Life isn't that bad when you find a blessing in everything you do and come across. Life isn't a bowl of roses either. Life is what you make of it ~ so is your quit. How you react in life is generally how you will react in your quit. Take your control back. Join a yoga class. It is wonderful for your body and mind. Buy some relaxation cd's. Or just take a time out. Enjoy a nice, long bubble bath. Or my favorite, a pedicure. Or go even further and get a massage. All of those are ideas to help you find some balance internally. Take care of yourself. And love yourself. You are doing something wonderful!!!!!!!!! ;) 4my2girls What Consumes Your Thoughts Controls Your Life My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 249 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,499 Amount Saved: $814.23 Life Gained: Days: 20 Hrs: 2 Mins: 42 Seconds: 47
