What the heck is wrong with me.....

Kim! It seems to me the point is the BABY, yes? So who's going to remember who threw the shower? The Mom is going to remember who came, who gave the most amazing gift (you can get amazing hand made gifts nowadays even if you can't make them yourself) to THE BABY! Something used everyday is going to be remembered long after who gave the dumb ole shower is forgotten! So find something like an amazing hand made layette set, or a snuggly crochet blanket, or make something amazing like rhinestone baby slippers, or cross stitch a baby sampler that hangs on the wall that they see and enjoy every day, and you will find much more satisfaction in that than planning a one time, oh so short and quickly forgotten party. At least, that's my opinion. Hey, when times get tough, the tough GO SHOPPING! And of course you would be hurt at all this, but you can only do what you can do, and you never know, this other gal may even fall down and land in the cake.... well, fantasies are free! And Gonna, they always take donations at the Goodwill or second hand shops, don't they? {{{hugs to all}}} gotta go to work early today, stayed late late late last night, and possibly a strike :8o: tomorrow! Yikes, it's enough to make me glad I haven't added smoking into that mix! Cheermom, Oh my goodness! I am so sorry that all happened to you!!! It sounds like you are a very caring person who really wants to throw an amazing shower for your friend, and I hope that it does happen and that you get to play a huge part in it. So you want to dull the pain, but not with a smoke? Great! How about a nice relaxing bubble bath when you get home? Or how about splurging and having a small "not so healthy" snack as a reward for not smoking? I hope you start to feel better soon! You know that there's NOTHING wrong with you... we all have bad days sometimes. I hope that yours gets better soon! :) Crave the Quit! here's my 2 cents worth: communicate with that person and ask her to change the meeting to another day if possible. Then participate as much as you can with the plans. If you feel she's trying to push you away ... don't let her succeed. Feel for you.... You're not pathetic, Kim---you are human! :) I am sure your feelings are hurt, but you and I both know that smoking won't help. You have 149 days under your belt...much too far to start back on day 1 again! She is your best friend, but she has other friends as well. You will feel better about yourself if you roll up your sleeves and help with the planning and bury your hurt. That is the right thing. Not that I always do the right thing....OR you could sneak over the night before the shower and toilet paper the place! :eg: Hope you feel better after a brief rant...! BTW, Cheermom, perhaps you or SOMEONE can help me. Not really smoking-related (well, I guess it could be---it sure is increasing my cravings). How do you stop a virtual pet from beeping? My daughter left one in my car and I can't figure out how to turn it off. My only other alternative involves a sledgehammer and lies to a ten year old...?

Lots of good advice to us both, Cheermom! I locked my daughters dog in the trunk where he will stay until we get home! He can beep and vibrate all he wants...I am not feeding him! Hope nobody from the ASPCA sees this! :gasp: I punched buttons and looked and looked. There is NO on/off buttons on those things! You put her up to this, didn't ya, Phil!? When you least expect it......pay-back! :8o: Cheermom: You can't control the behaviors of others, only your responses. I suppose I am a wee bit stubborn, but I wouldn't let on that it was bothering me at all..smile pleasantly...call them names in private with only the virtual dog as witness! Let me know if you want to go with your original plan, I'll send the darn dog to you (Only, I DO NOT want it back after you put it where I think you are going to!) ;p My Milage: My Quit Date: 9/8/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 56 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,827 Amount Saved: $448 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 19 Mins: 40 Seconds: 35

Gonna...Not sure about those virtual pets. Past my technological brain. If I can't figure it out, then my kids dont get one lol. IS there any switch anywhere on it? Can you tell it to hush (just in a harsher tone lol). Ok, I need to vent and there is no better place than here. I was on a roll helping others here, catching up on work and emails and all of a suddem BAM flipping nicodemon starts to reason with me. An email upset me this morning and well, its pathetic in my thinking but I took it to heart and it hurt and reached for a smoke that isn't there. TAKING A BREATH... My best friend from high school is having her first child. I planned on giving her a baby shower and a friend she has known only for a few years (ok we graduated together in '86) has taken over and is planning it at her house, already planned the menu, decided to create the invitations (i've already bought them but will take them back) and now I'm not wanting to be part of it. My girlfriend didn't want to hurt any of us 4 so she sent an email to all of us saying we all can get together and plan this. Well, this person just jumped in and took over. Hurt? yes most definitely. Wanting to numb the pain, SURE! But will I? Hell no especially not with a smoke. Just want the dang demon to go away and leave me alone. My best friend was also the one who talked me into looking into this website and quit smoking. She hasnt' smoked ever, never nagged me, but kindly suggested I check into sites like this. Now I feel distant and alone..... What a pity party this is. Good gosh I'm pathetic.
