cheermom...you're doing great! maybe you're just having a down day? I'm sure you had them as a smoker too. I know i reached a point in my quit where i suddenly realized not everything i'm going through is quit realted. How did you work through the blahs before you quit? Exercise? Immerse yourself in a good book? a long hot bath? or just fake a smile till it feels real again? I hope you feel more like yourself again soon! (and i'm real glad you won't smoke!) ~lbugg~ PS: Spending alot of time with family would make me apprehensive too :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/17/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 603 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 33,794 Amount Saved: $4221 Life Gained: Days: 58 Hrs: 18 Mins: 42 Seconds: 53

cheermom, if nothing strikes your funnybone, maybe it isn't "funny" that you need. Sometimes we just feel down or drained or used up a little. It doesn't necessarily have to do with the quit..but we always blame it on that. I think that's still a little bit of the addiction peeking through, saying "Aw come on, a cigarette will make you feel better." But we know it won't, so we discard that thought. It's the same kind of thought we get with when we encounter a rude cashier..."Gee, maybe I'll just bash him in the side of the head with my purse." But we don't act on it, do we? (At least I haven't...lately). Sounds like perhaps you're a little overwhelmed. Maybe it's a day to get out of the house...go to a park or for a walk or buy a new book. Maybe drag out the cookie-making stuff. A side-note about Thanksgiving ... do you have to have them all over? What about their house? Maybe if you tell them they won't be able to smoke, they won't come. Sometimes we do things out of martyrdom or a sense of guilt or obligation that we really don't HAVE to do. The past few years, my husband and I have been going to a local nice restaurant for holiday meals...it's so much nicer...I get to enjoy the meal, too, instead of taking on all the work. Kim....I well remember having the same feelings that you are experiencing. I remember how I some days literally "lived" on this website. Holidays that first year were hard for me.....and I was quit almost a year before they rolled around!.....those were times when I smoked a lot. having company and 'being' company was always a stressful time for me. When they all go out to smoke....have yourself a cup of flavored tea or some other small treat. Retreat...even it's only for a couple of minutes....sit down...breath deep, close your eyes and remember that your "online family" will be right here...waiting for your report...they will have been working at staying smokefree also. It can really be fun to return here after a holiday with the news that you have hung tough and kicked the demon's butt! You go girl.....I KNOW you can do it!
