You guys are way too kind to me. I did the reward thing. I went shopping and bought a couple of new outfits. The boys are gone. My daughter is working and Dad is in bed. Everyone is working all weekend and I'm hitting the books. I have my last three finals next week so I'll be studying all weekend long. I'm also taking Monday off from work! (My favorite reward) I'm fine folks. I'll be in and out over the weekend. Just when I need a break from studying. Gotta keep an eye on the Newbies :p Have a great weekend and thanks for your concern. Quitting is tough stuff. We all know that. It takes courage to get going and determination to keep going. We are all addicts here. It really doesn�t matter if you have been quit for 3 hours or 3 years. We are all just one puff away from letting the addiction control us again. There comes a point in the quit were we begin to feel the freedom from the enslavement that smoking brought to our lives. The only way to reach this freedom is to keep taking it one day at a time, one step at a time. There is a process we each go through in order to be quit. That process is easier for some than others but it is necessary. You will not make it to freedom if you give in to the junkie thinking or addictive behavior. Each time you smoke you are starting the process all over again. If you give in to the junkie then the next crave will be twice as hard to resist. This is a dangerous game to play. If you are in a position that you feel you can�t go on, [B]POST[/b] a thread. [B]ASK[/b] for help. Those of us that have been here for a while stick around so that we can help others who are struggle with the addiction. We want to see you break free. People - [B]PLEASE�[/b]. If you have having a hard time, post [B]BEFORE [/b] you smoke. If you don�t get a lot of responses or don�t find the solution you need, [B]POST AGAIN[/b]. Choose another forum if you think it will help. The fight for freedom is long and it is hard but it is worth it. [B] Do not give up on yourself.[/b] You can beat this addiction. Take a lot of deep breaths, drink water, learn all you can, and find a quit buddy to lean on. Quit buddies will save you from yourself when you need it most. They are probably the most important part of the quit process. Hang in there and don�t give up the good fight. [B]You are fighting for your life and it is worth it. Lady, Your post struck a chord with me. So often you see people join the SSC with the good intentions of quitting smoking. Unfortunately, many, too many, fail. They all have their reasons. Most underestimated the strength of this addiction. Many live with smokers who make it much more difficult. Many get consumed by their quits and get lost in a sea of emotions that drown them. As I've said on this site so many, many times, quitting takes Strength, Determination, Commitment and A Positive Attitude. You have to want to quit more than you want that smoke. You have to steadfastly stay the course, through all that this wretched addiction will throw your way. Do I make it sound too hard? No. I'm just not sugar coating the quit process. Do you have to go to war and become some quit maniac? Of course not. You simply have to want to quit and do whatever you need to do to maintain your quit. Simple as that. Lady, you wrote "Do not give up on yourself". How true. How so very, very true. New quitters often get discouraged when they get a crave after being quit for a few weeks or even months. They don't understand what is really going on with their bodies. Learn people. Read all you can about the quit process and about how to live as a recovering smoker. [b][color=black]Winston Churchill in 1941 made a great speech about never giving in... here is an excerpt...[/color] [color=blue]Never give in. Never give in.
