i know what you mean hun. it's ok to feeel like that, i have the same problem when i watch tv too. when i feel that way i tell myself that there is nothing wrong with me and that it is happening to that person and not me. it's hard i know. the only other way is to completly avoid anything that you think will make you feel that way. i don't, can't read or hear anything about cancer or i get so paranoid, i start checking for lunps, so i'm with you. it's just finding a way to deal with it. always here if you need a chat, hugs, beca. xxxx

Thankfully we have military medical which is free. I hate the hospital though so I only go if I am really freaking......my first visit with the psych is tomorrow after a year of not seeing him.

I know what this is like. After John Ritter died, I was certain that I too had this missed heart condition. I hate reading or watching anything to do with health. I have to avoid it for now. I also spent a lot of hours searching for symptoms online and BOY can that ever scare the heck out of you. I think I've diagnosed myself with every major fatal illness out there! I owe $14,000 in unpaid medical bills just to be continually told I'm fine. This is truly a horrible condition. It impacts us emotionally, physically, financially, and our relationships. I don't allow myself to search for symptoms anymore and I've cancelled some of my upcoming doc appoints (I always schedule with two specialists in the same field in case one misses something), but now, I 've canceled them and have decided to only go if I something is bothering me to the point that it is impairing my function - which right now is only panic disorder that impairs me - not body sensations.

Or as soon as you read of someone else's "symptom" during an attack the next attack you have that one too.

Lucy- I most definetely have hypochondria. I was studying all about cardiac conditions in school and suddenly started having all kinds of chest pains, palpitations and other weird heart symptoms. Don't worry, you're not alone. I think most people who have panic disorder have this symptom. It is very irritating though because as soon as one thing is cleared up, I end up having something else!

I have this to a certain point. A very good online friend suffered a serious heart attack in march. She has major anxiety like I do. However she is older than I by 15 yrs. Two weeks after she had her attack. I was in the er for chest pains. The dr's said I had pulled a chest muscle. They also found the high cholestrol. I do it with my kids too. If they get sick I feel I am too and that brings on more anxiety symptoms

Hi, Every time I read a horrible story in the newspaper about someone having a medical emergency I get convinced it's happening to me. Not straight away but like in the next couple of days I notice that I'm having 'symptoms' that must be the same as what they had. I am always living in fear because of this. What can I do? It's so strange - one part of my mind knows it's just hypochondria, but it's like there's this other voice saying 'it's real, it's real'. CBT works for a couple of hours, usually, then I start worrying again.
