cheermom, if nothing strikes your funnybone, maybe it isn't "funny" that you need. Sometimes we just feel down or drained or used up a little. It doesn't necessarily have to do with the quit..but we always blame it on that. I think that's still a little bit of the addiction peeking through, saying "Aw come on, a cigarette will make you feel better." But we know it won't, so we discard that thought. It's the same kind of thought we get with when we encounter a rude cashier..."Gee, maybe I'll just bash him in the side of the head with my purse." But we don't act on it, do we? (At least I haven't...lately).
Sounds like perhaps you're a little overwhelmed. Maybe it's a day to get out of the house...go to a park or for a walk or buy a new book. Maybe drag out the cookie-making stuff.
A side-note about Thanksgiving ... do you have to have them all over? What about their house? Maybe if you tell them they won't be able to smoke, they won't come. Sometimes we do things out of martyrdom or a sense of guilt or obligation that we really don't HAVE to do. The past few years, my husband and I have been going to a local nice restaurant for holiday meals...it's so much nicer...I get to enjoy the meal, too, instead of taking on all the work.
Rusty :)
