Hey redytoquit, What's going on here? You know some of us get into some details introducing ourselves and I think this is good. Some of the old timers can help a lot when given just a little information. I don't know who you are...except redytoquit. Are you male, female, (age optional...?) ...how long you been smoking...? how many times have you tried to quit? Are you trying to quit cold-turkey or using some NRT OR prescription med to stop smoking? Let us know a little about you and maybe we can better assist you with the kind of support you need. Look at your reasons for quitting and tell us the "Main One"... Personally, I want my life back...I don't want to be controlled by an addiction...every waking moment spent around my next puff. Redytoquit, You're not weak; you're an addict. Addicts do whatever they can to get their fix - until they are truly ready to do whatever they can to stay quit. Hear that? Whatever they can! Are you there? I know right now, you're thinking that you're done... so what will you do when it's been a few days and you've been doing well and you start craving? What are you going to do? Make a plan. No really, MAKE A PLAN!!!! Either you are going to keep doing this to yourself over and over and over and over and over again... or, you are going to make a plan to keep yourself from doing this... and then stick to your plan! That's the most important thing. Trust me, I know where you're coming from. I've been there too many times! And I was finally able to stick my quit when I made a plan for what I would do when I wanted to smoke and am here some 460+ days without a smoke... and so can you. So, tell yourself, I will NOT smoke until I... and then put a few things in there like post here, email/IM a quit buddy, call a friend who supports your quit, read your reasons for quitting, etc... or better yet, print off your post on this thread where you said:
im so tired of everything about a ciggerette, and im sick of the taste, and the smell, and the coughing, and the inconvience, and the time it makes me waste, and energy it takes. etc. ect.ect. im re- pledging that from now on im through with smoking. it really is a nasty, nasty habit.
Read that when you're wanting to cave. Because times when you WANT to cave WILL happen... it's what you do in those times that matters... those times matter more than right now. Right now, you're ready to quit and want to stay quit... but it's those times when you're not so sure about yourself that really matter. What will you do then? Only you can decide. Crave the Quit! You'll quit when you are ready. I know from where you come...I was soooo sick of constantly being in withdrawals, constantly thinking of not-smoking and constantly thinking of smoking! The one thing on this particular quit, is I have adhered to the concept of NOPE. Because THAT is what sent me hurling back into smoking every time. The first 'puff'. I hope I never make that mistake again. Thoughts and prayers coming your way! Redytoquit, Why are you picking up that cigarette? Why do you have access to that cigarette? Learn from your slip and figure out why you are going back. Are you sad? Can't deal with stress? Trouble with withdrawals? Feel like your missing something? Then rework the online quit program and put together a new plan that takes these triggers into consideration. You can do this! Hey redy, Your no weaker than the rest of us. Stop thinking that way. The cravings will let up some with time. Just have to remember N.O.P.E. (Not One Puff Even) Take care. I sure know where you are coming from. 25 days ago, I was exactly where you are...disgusted with myself for caving once again. I said enough. Know what? I'm not looking back this time. Tired of doing this again and again.....THEN STOP!!!! I have been on this quit journey for over a year. Yes,it's taken that long to get the message....just STOP. If you haven't heard of it before, there is a very good book you should read. Can't mention the name or author here, but it talks about there being an EASY WAY to quit smoking. I think you should read it NOW. If you haven't already, check out my struggle of the last few months in general forum, under the ROOKERY. You might find some similiarities to your own experience. You are not alone in this quitting, relapse, quitting, relapse. The last day I smoked, I started writing about how I felt at that very moment of having caved yet again. That is what I carry with me should I decide to consider smoking again. It's wrapped around my money. Tell you something....I haven't considered smoking since I walked away....not even close. You can do it. JUST BELIEVE IN YOURSELF. You do not want to be a SLAVE anymore...do you? You are past redytoquit....you rquit!!!
