It is Just a Very, Very Bad Habit to Get Over

Well put, Katy! I couldn't agree more. I like the notion of never allowing positive thoughts about smoking to take residence in my head. It's really the only way for an addict, isn't it? I agree with Lady....when I finally realized I was an addict, I was able to view my quit in a completely different light. I just keep saying over and over....I can't have not even one. As far as huddling up outside during the rain, snow, thunder and tornado's...(yes I did this once, I was looking for the funnel cloud), I will not miss that....I thought it was my "break", but there are other ways to take 5 minutes for yourself. I'm learning ways to do this. We weren't enjoying ourselves...we were addicted to nicoteen! I still haven't turned any corner into hating smoking. I just know I can't do it. I agree. I can tell you there's no pleasure in huddling outside by yourself in the cold weather, puffing away. If anything, that for me, is a very lonely experience. Smoking is one miserable, horrible addiction! There they are again, outside huddling, puffing quickly, and you see no enjoyment on the faces. For them and for what we did as well was hurry up, smoke it, and get back to the job. Habit, habit, pleasure no??? We may think so for awhile and then no, no pleasure, just habit, habit, just habit.

Stickin, Lots of truth in this thread. Thanks for starting it. Just like Kaitilina said, it's still important to take those five minutes periodically throughout the day for ourselves. Luckily, now those five minutes won't have to be spent in freezing temperatures or torrential downpour. What kind of break is that? Danielle __________________________ The SSC Support Team

Imallclear, Don't be too hard on yourself. You will turn that corner, it just takes time. Keep persevering! You're doing great with 32 days under your belt! Danielle _______________________ The SSC Support Team

puff, puff, cough, cough & hackup stuff. Addiction to nicotine isn't funny ! it gets past being 'just a habit' when you get pleasure from releasing the nicotine withdrawl. Ditto to what Katy said. If you have a bad habbit that hurts you over and over again, you stop it. Smoking is an addiction. It wasn't until I realized I was an addict that I was able to quit. Great post!
