This is an old post I wrote, but I just felt like it's needed right now.
[quote]What I like best about this site is that everybody's opinions are respected. While we might not always agree, and many times, we don't, the thing that I have always admired and respected most about this site has been the fact that we are all individuals of different cultures, races, ethnicities, religions and backgrounds, bound together to fight one of the greatest addictions that there is. We don't have to agree. We just have to respect each other's opinions and help each other when we need help.
We are all here to do the same thing. Sure, we might have different ways of doing it... some choose to go Cold Turkey, while others choose to use aids. Some slip, some don't. Some believe that we are addicts for life while others believe that the addiction is something that can be overcome with time. The point is that none of these are wrong. There's not a single right or wrong way to quit smoking, as long as we don't smoke.
As my mother says, opinions are like @$$holes. Everyone's got one and they sure do stink! So while we can argue all day and night about the "right" way to quit smoking, let's not lose sight of the purpose of the site and that's to beat this addiction as a group. If we keep fighting, then we lose that unity. As individuals, we are all weak. As a group, we are strong.
The best thing about this site is our unity and how much everyone here genuinely cares for each other and gives fully to help each other in this fight. That goal, that desire to be smoke free, is far stronger than our opinons that differ. Let's not lose sight of that.
