Just my thought....if, when I were still smoking, my kids had given me a quit smoking gift (as my main Christmas gift understand) I would have been rather upset and disappointed. The majority of smokers don't take well to being told or even having it suggested that they quit......they are addicts and they take this as some sort of personal affront.
I know how you want your loved ones to stop smoking (been there done that)....and there is nothing wrong with giving them quitting information....but don't make that their Christmas gift.....make it something that you "had", no longer "need", and thought they might just like to "look at"??? don't wrap it up...simply lay it down and drop the subject of them accepting or refusing it. They have to come to it....it can't be forced on them.
and then spread around YOUR pride in YOUR quit!!!! just remember...it is NEVER about them still smoking....it is ALL about how proud you are of YOURSELF!!!
I have said since the beginnning of my quitting......"smokers WATCH quitters" You are sending an up close and personal message about what it is like to be a quitter......so you want to make that message a wonderful one! You are positive, relaxed in yourSELF, PROUD of yourSELF, determined to KEEP it up, SO SO grateful of the wonderful rewards that come ONLY to a quitter (rewards you never imagined as a smoker)and you are never, never nagging or rude to the person who is still smoking.....cause you know they are addicts and the addiction is to blame for the smoking.
so believe me....they are watching your reaction to everything...whether you think so or not.....they are watching.
