Our family did get some bad medical new about a family member, future unclear. How have the long term quitters avoided falling off the wagon when your down and truly dont care due to emotional tradedy. Input/personal stories appreciated. As always thanks Debbie My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/31/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 13 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 133 Amount Saved: $26 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 7 Mins: 11 Seconds: 5

Hi Debbie, Good to see you here. When you want to smoke, ask yourself if you would like to go pound your head on a wall, or put your hand on a hot stove burner, or poke a finger through your eye, or any other riduculous way you can think of to hurt yourself. That's what smoking is... it's hurting you, so when you think you want it, ask if you want to hurt yourself? Hopefully, the answer will be no, that you want to take care of yourself. Try to think of a way to care for yourself and comfort yourself to handle those emotions. It helps turn it from a negative into a positive. Hang in there... you're in my prayers. Debbie, you say that you don't care. I think you do or you wouldn't have posted asking about it right? You have to remember that smoking isn't going to make your loved one well. It will only make you worse off. You don't want to make your loved ones go through the hell of watching someone die of a smoking related disease right? I hope that your family member gets well, sending prayers and thoughts your way.
