She told me that quitting smoking greatly improved the odds that I'd have a normal test in 6 months.

Sillyme,
Glad to hear the good news!
A great reason to quit, but it also makes us think...
Why did I have to hear this news to make me THINK ABOUT QUITTING?
The great thing is that you did quit and not too late. I am so happy for you!

Great story, Silly; thanks! You seem to be telling us that taking control of our lives, no matter how long they've been out of control, is a good thing. It's never too late, is it? Not for redemption in one form or aother...

Back in July I decided to quit smoking. The primary reason for me at the time was the fact that I'd had an abnormal pap test and the doc said it could be the beginning of cervical cancer. She told me that quitting smoking greatly improved the odds that I'd have a normal test in 6 months. In August I quit smoking. November came around and I went for another test. Still came back abnormal. In February they tested me again and finally it came back normal!! Now I still have to get checked again in 6 months to make sure that it isn't but was glad to have that good news for a change! Since quitting I've also realized that there were many other good reasons to quit smoking besides just that!
