Jaset:
I'm so very, very sorry for your loss. It is beyond tragic to lose wonderful people to this awful addiction.
I lost a dear friend this past summer -- he died of lung cancer at the age of 59. He had quit smoking 10 years ago. He suffered tremendously during his final months. I will never forget.
Remember your friend and his struggles and I know your resolve is even greater now, as is mine.
Thinking of you today.
Keep the faith.

To all I bid you thanks. Your words are meaningful. Keep the smokes in the garbage as we all enter this new year. Keep strong and have faith as we are all addicts of a great killer.

At 4:28 this morning,12/31, my dearest friend had passed away from the effects of smoking. His heart finally gave out after 29 years of smoking. He was 58 years old. He was my mentor and also my friend. His life was amazing. He was loved by so many people. A professor at the University of North Dakota, he gave so many people knowledge. A friendly person who loved every one in his path and would not think twice of helping a stranger! He had a wife and 4 kids.
A cigarette is a pipe with a fire at one end and a fool at the other.

I too am so sorry for your loss, but look at how many lives your friend is continuing to touch in his death! Your story confirmed, renewed, and strengthened countless quits on this site. That alone is cause for profound thanksgiving; you have honored his life by sharing his death. Thanks.
