Being alone again

You guys are so great- thanks so much for your support! I think the single most important thing in my recovery process was finding you all and others who can empathize fully with my situation and really know what I'm going through. This place has been a godsend for me during the past 5 months and I have learned so, so much. I don't want to get all cheesy and philosophical but I have really been finding out what the true meaning of all this suffering is and think of it now as a gift, not the curse I once thought it was. Anyways, I am still living at my apartment, sans computer! But it's great and I love being away from the constant stress of my parents!! I'm just up here for Sunday dinner and to use the computer of course. I really appreciat all of your thoughts and I still pray for everyone suffering from this horrible illness. With time and patience it does get better! Sarah

Sarah, Gosh girl, so glad to hear from you!! So glad everything went gooooooooood (Bruce Almighty tone on the "good" LOL). Glad your parents came back early, you are glad to see them, but realize that you can make it back in your apartment alone, nothing like resorting to staying with parents too long, and get too scared again. At least you know that you have a support system near you again if anything should arise. Hey, wait, if you stay back over to your apt, how you gonna keep in touch with us? sniff sniff We have got to get you a computer at home girlfriend! See ya, Trish

Sarah, Great Job!! Hey do you have any pets? Well, maybe you don't like animals, but if you do, they can be great companions when you are feeling alone. Sometimes for me, there is nothing better than curling up with my dog and 2 kitties.

Sarah, congrats! I've been thinking and praying for you and I wondered how you were making out! Sounds like you did better than you thought you would! That's how it usually works! Look how much progress you made in such a short time, from not being able to be alone at all, to actually doing it! Leaving the house, not having access to a computer, you did alot and you got to give yourself much credit for it! I know that it was hard at times and you wanted it to just end, but you lived through it and now it will give you more confidence to work on it some more! This is great news and I'm so happy for you! Let us know how you are doing! Hugs!

Wow Sarah this is great news. You are making progress and should be very proud of yourself. Have you thought about staying at your parents one night then going back to your place the next? Just alternate nights until you gradually get use to it? I know the fear of being alone is scary but you managed to do it for a few so there's no doubt you can do it again. Just take it one day at a time and keep up the good work. I'm very happy for you!

Hi cheryl and everyone, Well, my weeks alone are over, my parents came back from their trip and I am still alive!!! My husband, who lives in the Netherlands, (long story) came to visit me for 2 weeks and we stayed in my apartment together and I was just fine! I couldn't believe all the things I could do while he was with me- drive all over the city, shop, stand in line-ups, go to restaurants- it was great! I love him and miss him so much- we just got married in july and hadn't even seen each other since august! Anyways, he and my parents, who I was staying with before he came, left and I was left to fend for myself. I hadn't been alone for more than a few hours since my breakdown in Oct. let alone 2 weeks!! I have great friends though who were very supportive the whole time. One of my friends broke up with her boyfriend and needed a place to stay so she stayed with me for about 5 nights- so that was nice. But I was alone a fair bit and had to get my own groceries and standing in the line-ups was really too much for me.I forced myself to drive but mainly stayed very nearby my neighbourhood. All in all, it was ok. My parents ended up coming back a bit early and tonight I am staying at their house but I don't want to make it a habit again. I have improved so much in the last little while- the progress is very slow but when I compare myself now to where I was 4 months ago, the difference is huge! So everyone just keep plodding along like I am and know that recovery is within reach. Thanks for all the help I've gotten on this site. You are all wonderful! Sarah

Sarah, I go thru the same kinds of feelings everyday. Its encouraging to read other peoples views and not feel so alone. You could maybe plan some activities like going to the local library to come visit the forum. Planning your time will help you do something. I feel better when I can actually get something done. Let us know how you are doing, best thoughts your way.

Thank-you hopeful, that means a lot. Yes, I will stock up on supplies- feel like I'm preparing for a flood or something lol! I am very nervous though and keep thinking about my worst panic attacks and how I was so scared to be alone. Anyways, I guess I will just have to see how it goes... Thanks again, Sarah
