Thank you all so much! This is exactly what I was looking for! I can read through these when I need that quiet time to re-group my thinking. Thinking too much is sooooooo my biggest struggle!!!!!! I am practicing refocusing my thoughts by action instead thinking! Can you send me your favorite "Peaceful Quit thought"? I would like to add some of your wise thought to my diary. What I mean by peaceful quit thoughts is something that you have used along the way and it just made you feel "aaahhhhh" I sure do appreciate any help you can offer. I had been using tea and it still helps but I want to get some nice things going through my mind! My "Ah-h-h" moment is taking a deep breath of fresh air and saying to myself, "I don't smoke." Wow. Still works for me. Simple but powerful. mc My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/31/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 530 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,954 Amount Saved: $2120 Life Gained: Days: 53 Hrs: 0 Mins: 43 Seconds: 38

Hi Rainie. Great post! Prior to quitting, I didn't realize that I was a slave to the cigarette. A slave to my addiction. After a few hours I refused to go back to the beginning. I still do the same. I found myself in a world of freedom where I was in control. I have come too far to go back now. I don't ever want to be a slave again. I like being in control of me. Keep going! The freedom is awesome! Raine, I got my favourite mantra from Leslie on this site. Her saying is :
Better to be an ex-smoker who occassionally thinks about smoking, than a smoker who is forever thinking about quitting
Never forget how awful it is to be a smoker. Never mind "the one" you enjoyed, how about all the "other ones" you had to smoke just to keep your nicotene levels topped up. Hi Rainie, In the early days of my quit (before I mastered it!) when the cravings were strongest, I simply took a moment for myself, took a deep breath and quietly repeated several times "I neither need nor desire to smoke". That proved to be very peaceful and effective - I hope it helps! Goood Luck Penitent d998 :)

I used to picture ole nic....writhing about in the floor, whining, grinding his teeth cause he couldn't make me light up.....and I was sitting on a tall stool, with a smirk on my face ...with a big glass of icey water or tea, with a couple of straws in it (of course) when I would finish my drink, I would slide off the stool and just "accidently" let my foot light on nic's neck ( I didn't quickly take it off either) Thinking of Nic (my addiction) in that position, under MY control, was my "aaaaaahhhhhh moment". :eg: Katy My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/4/2002 Smoke-Free Days: 1864 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 74,585 Amount Saved: $10624.8 Life Gained: Days: 245 Hrs: 21 Mins: 51 Seconds: 38
