WHY DO MEN HAVE TO BE MEN ABOUT EVERYTHING.....

My hubbie and I are on our 3rd day of quitting smoking....Anyways I prepared for the quit and I have to say its has gone smooth to this point, but my hubbie didnt prepared and he is being an AZZ with his withdrawls....So I have to ask... WHY DO MEN HAVE TO BE MEN ABOUT EVERYTHING?

I wanted to update ya all on this posting....I found out Saturday from my hubbie that he hadnt quit like I thought he did....He says he is not ready and that is fine cause he needs to do it for himself and not because I want him to....I just wish he would have been more honest with me about not quitting.....

caliproctor, when you say "prepared" I am assuming you mean prepared for the withdrawal symptoms making sure you had carrot sticks around to chomp on....(as an example). I'd say it is kind of like asking for directions.....that would mean they need some sort of help. and a good majority of men never need any help or assistance as we all know...... :) Be patient, sometimes quiting will hit men harder then woman due to the emotional feelings that pop up. and generally men don't have a lot of experience dealing with that, while we get practice once a month! When my boyfriend quit I said he was having his first bout with PMS. His PMS peaked around day 3 & 4, and really got bad days 7-10. I ignored him, got out of the house, and found activities to make myself happy. One thing I did.... I went out for a few hours on my own and left the child and the puppy with him for a while. When I returned he much nicer to me. I suppose he decided I was easier to deal with, or he was just happy to be relieved of his duty! Either way I loved the look on his face when I told him I was going out for a while.....(I have a little evil side) He is back to normal for the most part. This too shall pass! Oh yea, definitely an "AZZ" here too. I prepared too but acted like a highly emotional serial killer. I was especially bad on my 11th and 12th days. I'm settling down more today. I'm really focusing on my behavior because I couldn't even stand to be around myself. ha ha ha I was scared. LOL It'll get better. In our situation, I couldn't agree with Pea more, though I was an AZZ for a good month too! good luck, Marie

we wouldn't want them any other way. One thing - If he is a pain then that means he is working on a quit. That's the good news. Hi Cali - I'm afraid that I was an "Azz" too despite the fact that I don't have any male chromozones. Basically quitting made me miserable for afew days and cranky many days after that. Some of us have a gentler, kinder quit (I know my hubby wishes I was one of those!) but the rest of us have to duke it out for the first little while. Congrats to you and your hubby on your decision to quit....Wishing you better days ahead. Calli, Unfortunately, irritability and being quick to temper are part of the inital quit process. Try to be patient with each other. Perhaps a reward for you both would help lift your moods? Danielle _______________________ The SSC Support Team
