Hello On your journey, keep in mind that the goal is to get you to begin to feel free and you do this one step at at time, hour by hour at first, then day by day, and later week by week and so on. Remember not to reach for that cigarrette because it is too difficult to quit over and over again. Just say no for the time, each time and it will gradually fade from your memory. This post from days pasted: To You, I am at the point in my quit, some 230 days, that the act of smoking has become a distance memory. To forget the memories of smoking is what I consider part of the quit goals, not to forget that I once smoked. With the fading of the memories there goes the fading of those triggers and peace is instilled. I know, I don�t need or want to smoke. My last serious urge came around my fifth month of quit, a trigger came out of nowhere and I had to stop what I was doing and take up another activity. I�m not feeling any urges anymore at all and haven�t for a couple of months. Today I am a non-smoker, and wonder why I didn�t quit so much earlier. If you stay with the program you will be happy, self confident, and a healthier individual. I am glad that you came to this site. It shows that you have the desire, and with that desire come hope, and that yes, yes, it can be done. Look around. How can so many succeed. It is their will to succeed, their can do, want to, will do positive attitude and actions. Good luck to all of you on your journey. Think positive and the quit will be yours always! Kait So sorry, down time, part of the healing process, yep that is what it is. Get busy, take your mind off of things, take a shower or bath, pump some weights, do some exercise, go on a walk, see a movie, drink some water, go to bed early tonight... ParrotLady and Kait super additions to this site; you have it right and you help more souls than you know. Time is a healer, and distractions are always in order to help us pass the time. Keep positive and continue posting, both good motivators.

Got to be Feeling Pretty Good about you Kaitilina Yes, I know, I know, I know and the end will come. I understand it is difficult to do, more than just simply saying no each time a crave hits or HELL NO as I, however it is the accumulation of these baby steps, standing up to each crave, one by one, that gives us the strength to carry us through. The baby steps yield to steps and then strides, and when stepping and striding you really are strutting your quit. You will begin to notice something in yourself; you did NOT automatically reach for that pack in your purse. A tell-tale sign that your mind is beginning to heal, the trigger is going away, being forgotten. I wish you very well and have enjoyed reading many of your posts you have put here for old and young alike. I see no obstacles in front of you, mere challenges that you will conquer. Challenges that will build your strength and that will fortified your resolve to never smoke again. You have the right thinking and now it is just executing your plan and continues saying no along your journey. This time I would like to praised and congratulate the three of you for your great support, steadfastness and truly positive ways: 8 � weeks Mc Laughlin, Fagashlynne 7 weeks, and Kaitilina 5 weeks. And I know, I know, I know you will see that light at the end of the tunnel.

Sticking, Great thread. It is important for all new quitters to know that it doesn't have to be all 'gloom and doom'. Yes - appreciate that you can have bad days, but overall things do get better as time moves on. It is certainly very good now! .. or am I experiencing an abnormal quit? Kaiti/Faith, I must tell you that although I am on my 939th day smokefree, this job was done and finished long ago - my final stages of the journey were around the end of 2004 at about the 220-250 day mark, just about where stickin is now - it's been fun being a non-smoker since! Kait, Believe me, it will happen. How long will it take? That depends on you. My experience here tells me that the positive thinkers reach that point considerably earlier than the negative thinkers. Take your pick! Choose wisely and it will be done and dusted sooner that you currently imagine. Another tip; don't dwell in the "doom and gloom" threads.
