In the first few days of my quit, I wanted a place like that so bad. However, I found the SSC instead. I NOW think that if I went back to smoking, I could not check myself into such a rehab. See, someone said that when you are ready to quit, you will quit. Now, nobody said that that "moment" that you realize you want to quit will come before you quit......... Mine sure didn't. Mine came in my first week. As a cold turkey quitter, the withdrawls hit me hard. I didn't even quit for me. I did it for my hubby. But then, something happened. I decided to take control. Whinning and thinking of how miserable I was, and how much I wanted to have one more smoke, well that wasn't working. So a bunch of quitters in there for a week or two doing that exact same thing, would very much alter my thinking. So, back to my point. Rehab = NO.......... SA(Smokers Annon.) = YES It is nice to be able to vent all of lifes frusterations, and SA allows that. Its nice to cry up a river once in a while just to let it out. Learning a new life is a joy for me, not a life sentence. I embrace and love the gift that I have been given. I respect and honor my second chance. I will do it with love, honor, humility, and peace in my heart. And I get to share all of that.............. 4my2girls My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 272 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 8,163 Amount Saved: $889.44 Life Gained: Days: 21 Hrs: 21 Mins: 28 Seconds: 50

I wouldn't have, myself. In retrospect, knowing what I've learned since I quit, it would have been detrimental to my quit. A lot of my recovery involved learning to not smoke while dealing with typical day-to-day activities. Locking myself away with a chaperone would not have accomplished that. But what was right for me isn't necessarily right for another. Some have already indicated their support for such a place. If you feel it would serve your community, start one! :) Keep up the great quits, everyone! Well, I certainly joined this website....and yes, I would have loved to have a local place to physically "go" to, at least for periods of time....a place that I felt was safe from smokers and smoking situations......That is why real time support groups with mentors are wonderful.....too bad there aren't more of them.....If I had unlimited time and didn't have to work, I would create one myself in this town and try to help people quit smoking! katy My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/4/2002 Smoke-Free Days: 1792 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 71,700 Amount Saved: $10214.4 Life Gained: Days: 233 Hrs: 19 Mins: 21 Seconds: 0

I think this would make for a great avenue of support and knowledge! Whatever it takes to quit! We need to be able to access all resources to help us through :) Keep Strong, Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
