Had to take hubby to emerg today, spent several hours there waiting for results from him having some heavy duty heart palpatations. Always have to go on the side of caution since he's had a heart attack and 2 mild strokes. Got home at 4 p.m... all is ok with him :) Turns out it was major anxiety -- he has much to contend with. While I was there I decided to go outside and get some air and wouldn't you know it, doctor's, nurses, ambulance attendants all standing around chit chatting and smoking! I needed a reprieve from the hospital setting and it's sterile dry environment and I'm hit with a cloud of smoke the size of a small city :( Again that smell...GEEEEEEEEEEZ! This time I do have to admit though that just the smokey air was somewhat inviting,, but I raced away to a clear area and breathed in the crisp winter air. Yet... another test, under pressure, anxious, stressful.. and I'm still in good standing! HA! Fantastic thread as always, Monica! Me, I still love the smell of smoke, but like so many other here, I find it revolting on people. I am beyond mortified at what I used to smell like -- it's probably the one thing that keeps me off cigarettes. Ewwwww..... I can totally relate. I have a friend who is very concerned with her looks, her age and her weight. She is attractive. She is a bit obsessed with it, I went to pick her up the other day. She got in the car and OMG! I had to put my window down. She had obviously smoked one while waiting for me to pick her up. I thought...for someone who is so worried about how she looks, she sure does smell bad. Sorry, but it is the truth. You know Monica, there are some triggers that are just harder for us to get through than others. And one of them for many of us is socializing with smokers while they are smoking. I just cant believe me husband NEVER said anything (he's a non-smoker). I feel so embarrassed about how disgusting I was - this is all I have to think about when I have a little urge and its enought to turn me off. My sister still lives with my parents who smoke in the house. She's a non-smoker but she stinks too. I feel so bad for her. They dont even want her to put her purse in the closet with everyone elses at her work (daycare) because it stinks. Also because she works in a scent free environment she cant wear perfume to help. She's actually taken taking her clothes from the dryer to her car...
