Mr. Ed, Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. This is just another lesson to take with you. I'm happy to hear you're feeling better and got through this rough patch. Stay strong. Danielle _________________________ The SSC Support Team

Thanks for your kindness. As I said, things are a lot better now. This thread was all about the realisation that there is more to life than smoking (or not). However, there have been times in my quit when I've felt down, but in my opinion, if you've been quit for a while, it's worth taking a deep breath and counting to 10 before posting about it. This site has helped me keep my quit - I have a responsibility to new quitters so that they don't feel intimidated at the first hurdle. To all older quitters, if you need some help, please post here. But at the same time, please be man (or woman) enough to consider how others might react before posting. best wishes Mr Ed :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 327 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 9,830 Amount Saved: 2452.5 Life Gained: Days: 53 Hrs: 9 Mins: 35 Seconds: 51

This is NOT a cry for help. To some it may be stating the obvious, but to 'younger' quitters, it may need saying. I always find this time of year difficult. Perhaps it's the lack of daylight hours, the grey skies, the end of the holiday celebrations. This year for me, it's been made worse by some work-related difficulties and a major family row. I'm feeling a lot better now, but Thursday / Friday, I couldn't have felt much worse. The point is, and yes it's time for uppercase now, I KNEW ALL ALONG THAT THIS HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH MY QUIT. IT'S QUITE POSSIBLE TO BE A NON-SMOKER AND FEEL LOW / DEPRESSED AT SOME POINTS IN YOUR LIFE. DON'T ASSUME THAT IF YOU'RE NOT FEELING GOOD, IT HAS GOT TO BE RELATED TO YOU NOT SMOKING rant over.. Mr Ed :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 327 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 9,823 Amount Saved: 2452.5 Life Gained: Days: 53 Hrs: 8 Mins: 34 Seconds: 28

Awh, Mr. Ed, sorry I am only seeing this now..... I feel a little sunlight deprived and "work crummy" myself, so I understand. Ruts happen, we can get, it, we can get out. I do suggest and super nice treat for yourself. You give SO much here and maybe it's time you did something nice for you ! Big Hugs and I hope things are looking brighter real soon. Book store trips and hot fudge sunday's seem to work nicely for me.... or maybe a night out with Mrs. Ed???? Mr Ed, glad that you are feeling better. In the Winter I have to have all the light on in my house. I have seen those special lights, and have thought about getting one. When my husband was living he would follow me around and turn them off. That would make me angry, he didn't understand. Thanks for all you do on the board, you're a fantastic quitter. Stay strong and keep fighting the good fight. One day we can say we have won the war. :) Sunshine My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/7/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 366 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,229 Amount Saved: $1281 Life Gained: Days: 53 Hrs: 17 Mins: 55 Seconds: 4

to greener pastures 'round the bend, mate. I get S.A.D. (seasonal affective disorder) too. You ever seen one of those sun lamps? Wonder if they help at all. Onward and upward. We keep on keepin' on - what's a smoke? keep fightin' the good fight - fish :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/21/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 383 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 11,503 Amount Saved: $1915 Life Gained: Days: 50 Hrs: 19 Mins: 39 Seconds: 50

Glad you are feeling better Mr. Ed. There are times when those low periods hit that we want to run and find comfort in our old friend (you know the one that would be with us until the very last breath). As we grow in our quits, we realize that smoking won't help a thing and that our thought process is just functioning the way an addicts does. We live, we learn, and suddenly we realize that we even had bad days as smokers. Keeping it all in perspective and reaching out for help when we need it is the key to success here. No matter what, we just don't smoke anymore. Life does go on. It's a good life too.
