scary feeling

I hate to be alone when the panic attack hits, but I just keep saying this will pass. The more I think about it, the worse it will be. I still got a long way to go, but being able to vent sure helps. My mornings are the worst time for me. But somehow I have gotten thru them. One day at a time. Callie

Nikki, I totally understand how you feel as this is my most prevalent symptom during my panic attacks. I always feel like I'm losing my mind and I always need a lot of reassurance that I'm not. I wish you the best because I definitely know what you're going through. Try to keep your head up and know that other people understand what you are going through. Hope this helps. Beckie

I used to have this all the time, but it has gone away in the last few months. I hated it! When it happens try to connect with your surroundings, look at things around you and really see them. Watch what people are doing, breath the air and try to taste it. Feel the breeze on your skin, anything you can do to make yourself connect with the place that you are at. Remind yourself that you are right here and you are ok, even though you feel funny right now. And remember that it will pass and go away eventually!

Nikki, I know it is scary. I guess I am one of the lucky ones that didn't experience this that often but I know how it feels. You just have to keep telling yourself that it is a normal feeling with Panic Disorder and like Trish said, it will get better. When you start feeling like this, try to think of one of your favorite things or favorite places to be and that should give you a little comfort until the feeling passes. Take Care!

Thank you trish for your response. I just let it get the better of me and I get scared. I know it will go away, but when its happening it feels like it will never go! Take care NikkiJ

Derealization is common in panic disorder, especially once diagnosed. Your thinking this can't be, I don't even feel like myself, who am I, what is happening, even the outside world looks different, fear that you are going crazy. Its is very very common, and it does go away. Hope this helps, Trish
