Can't relax and watch tv anymore

I can relate with this topic very much. I also become very sensitive to particular sounds and certain images are a big strain on my eyes or cause dizziness, particularly when I`m tired. I had to laugh, Trish, when I read the part about Crossfire in your post! If any show gets into a heated debate, someone is embarrassingly obnoxious, or people are locked in combat (sport or otherwise), I feel the same way. "Look out!" The funny part of it is that my husband has a very mild-mannered personality usually, but he also possesses a warped sense of humor...he loves pro-wrestling!(covers eyes with hand and shakes head)I sometimes retreat to another room if I can`t take it or ask to zap the channel with the remote!

Yes, somedays I can't sit still to watch TV and I know what you mean about how sounds bother you more sometimes. I get hypersensative like that, somedays every little noise, or smell, bothers me. It can be too hot or too cold, my eyes don't focus to moving objects as fast, etc. It's one of panic's favorite symptoms, I believe! Now that I know that panic causes this, when it happens it doesn't bother me as much as it used to. I just label it as panic and let it go.

I also have trouble watching tv with the family somedays...i try to watch a show or a movie, but i just can't concentrate or something. There's also days where just the noise from the tv makes me feel so chaotic, like i'm supersensitive to every little sound i hear. Does anyone have days where every little noise or alot of things they see makes them feel startled or jumpy?

Not strange at all Cheryl, especially if you are in a state of oversentized nerves. Traffic and stoplights get me. I was more panicky. On the TV thing, most times I can watch anything, but some days when Im a tad on edge, agitated already, just about any show is to much for my senses. I try to tune in to really calm show, nature one with low, slow talking. My son is a sports fanatic and he loves to have ESPN Sportscenter on, as does my husband, and I swear half of the night it makes my bones cringe, they debate on there as much as watching CNN Crossfire, and I literally have to tell them, turn it off, way down, or Im going to crossfire. I was just going thru old posts to try to bring myself up to speed on everyone and this one caught my eye. I too had this problem. I panic in traffic and if someone is stuck in traffic on tv I actually fine myself getting very agitated. There were days I couldn't watch it all. All the activity seemed to make MY situation worse. Isn't that the strangest thing?
