You can't go backwards and change it. Move forward and be happy for the lifestyle change you are making for yourself now. The kids are happy you quit, no matter when you did. I have 3 daughters and they are GLAD and have never asked about "before". Stay positive, this is a great thing you're doing here BJ. bj, I smoked with all 4 of my pregnancies, that was in the 60's and not even my Dr said anything. Hey, that is so far back I don't want to go back and worry. Guess what????? None of my children smoke, and they are all in perfect health...For that I am thankful. I now know what I did wasn't right, but what can I do....NOTHING!!! Be gentle with yourself, and get on with your quit....that is the most important thing for your children right now...But most of all it is more important for YOU!!!! Congratulations on your 13 days, and remember that ole nic with try anything to make you feel guilty....get it???? Hi BJ. I'm a mother of 3 too that smoked through all 3 pregnancies. It seemed the more I tried to cut down, the more I smoked. With the last one, I didn't even "try" to quit. The fact is that smoking is an addiction and until we are really ready to give it up, it just doesn't happen. Who knows what the root cause for the final quit decision or the reason this time is a success over others. It doesn't really matter. What matters is that you are quit now and an excellent example for your children. I also wanted to say that when we smoked, we didn't deal with our emotions. When we quit those emotions can often seem overwhelming. Take some deep breaths, don't look back and keep moving forward. You will learn a lot about yourself during this quit journey. I like to refer to quitting as a soul-searching, life changing journey. You cannot change the past but the future is all yours! Until you mentioned it, I had no guilt about smoking while pregnant. I mean I felt guilty, but I was an addict...what can I say. I am not going to go back to that time and leave the back door open for my addictive thinking to take advantage of. That I would really feel guilty about. It's in the past, leave it there. Focus on the now. You are quit and that is FANTASTIC. Peace.
