N2k, I LOVED your post on the other thread about the number of times the habit has been reinforced!!! I've been on this site for over a year and a half and I've NEVER thought about it in those terms before! Learn something new everyday!
Freedom,
Congratulations on quitting!!! Don't worry a bit about posting too much, especially on your first day! If you look at many of the people's number of posts here, you will see many in the thousands! I left the site and rejoined in July, but when I left, I had over 3,300 posts in one year! And the scary thing is that there are MANY people who had WAY more than that (I think Lady holds the record for the most posts, if I'm not mistaken - and many of them have been spent by giving others great advice! :) ) So don't worry at all about posting too much! That's definitely the way to a successful quit! Spend as much time as possible here learning about this addiction and what it can do to you and what you can do to keep from smoking. Arm yourself with knowledge here. There's plenty of it here at your disposal.
To answer your question about the difference between withdrawal symptoms and cravings, I too was confused by the difference at first. The withdrawal symptoms forum is more for physical symptoms you might ezperience due to quitting (e.g. acne, mood swings, irritability, excess gas, etc... pretty much everything except weight gain, which gets its own forum.) The cravings forum is more for dealing with the urges to smoke. But if you post in the wrong forum, don't worry. The "forum police" aren't going to come arrest you for posting in the wrong place! We'll respond just the same and help you out as much as we can. And like N2k said, if you're not sure of where to post, the Forum for New Users and General Discussion is a good place to go. Just about everything fits into that category.
Congrats again on your first day!
Crave the Quit!
Pam
