What would you do?

The way I see it she's going to find out sooner or later. I'd be for being honest about it. Besides, it will be a relief for YOU. To continue hiding it is burdensome, that which YOU don't need. We'd all just like to *get over it*, wouldn't we? Also consider, though, that for your husband, it probably feels to HIM, that YOUR condition, is somehow a reflection on him. In other words, his Mom may be thinking, "How did you let this happen? And why haven't you fixed it yet?" OR maybe this is what HE thinks she will think... Just a thought....let us know how it goes ;)

Well I am avoiding her. She is one of the things that stress me out and make me have panic attacks. I tried to talk to her about it originally and she basically said get over it which basically made her an non-safe person in my eyes.. I can see my husbands point.. but we are going to be moving in there within a couple of months do to some cruddy stuff happening lately and frankly she is gonna figure it out. Kit

Yes I would. By trying to hide it, she might be getting mixed messages, and start wondering if you don't like her, or her company, and may see it as something personal towards her. Sorry your husband is definitely not educated on panic disorder, as they are more common and more heard of now, she may be very well relieved to learn you aren't purposely avoiding her, but you have a condition that is not under control yet to permit you to do so. And you may just find she might be very understanding, and ahem, get on your husband for keeping it swept under the rug. Trish

My mother in law keeps asking me to go out and do things. She doesn't know how bad things are because my husband basically doesn't want her to know. So he is going out with her for several hours on Sundays while I stress out at home and overeact. I know I'm overreacting cause I want to slap him (I wouldn't but I want to) Lying is not something I like to do and I understand his fear of her knowing, cause she is very judgemental and doesn't really know how to be supportive, but I'd prefer him be uncomfortable to me. Maybe he can sit in the hot seat for a change. Sooo would you tell her the truth or not?
