When I first quit smoking, I was having having trouble breathing - always hoping for that really big breath that would make me feel better. The frequency of this feeling has diminished, but it is still there.
Every once in a while I'll get that fluttering in my chest, and realize, I am holding my breathe. That's when I know, this is anxiety, and immediately switch to deep breathing mode. While I concentrate on my breathe (and not my thoughts) I start to feel better. I am on the patch, and I am watching this closely, so that when I do stop the nicotine I can get help with this if needed.
What I have been wondering is if non-smokers feel anxiety this way. Surely they have anxiety. Just wondering what it feels like for them, and if maybe what I am feeling is normal.
Now that I'm on the cruise ship, I'm thinking there is a lot less anxious days ahead.
