How long should I be on Wellbutrin before I quit

for 17 år siden 0 925 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Daytime, Glad to see you're not giving up on your quit! Have you thought of finding a brand new doctor or calling your doc's office to find out if another doctor is filling in for him? Your next best bet is to call the pharmacy you got your rx from and ask to speak with the pharmacist, as they may have past records to give correct dosage etc. I called and spoke with my pharmasist yesterday because my doc's instructions were not very clear. I'm on a low dose, so my instructions are probably different than most. I think people usually take it for a few days to a couple weeks before they quit, but I'm sure more experience quitters will be here with answers soon. Hope this helps. Thanks Dawn!! I've never thought of myself as having passion. I do have faith and hope and know that someday I will be a non smoker again. :) Danielle, I did not know. Sorry. I will take Dawn's suggestion and call a pharmacist. I was just trying to get an idea of how long it would take to kick in. Actually lady, I did fail at my quit, but I want to restart it when I am ready to, not because of other people. I honestly hate the control it has over my life, but just feel I rushed into it too soon and too unprepared. I am trying to find Carr's book and want to take the Wellbutrin in the meantime to be better prepared. My quit meter keeps showing my old date, because I haven't picked a new one, because I don't know how long I should give the med to work. I still smoke less than I used to. Anyway, the whole doctor thing. I see someone at the medical college for practically free because I have no insurance. It's through the county and I don't have any other options to go to. They tell you where and who to see based on where you live. The same place also dispenses the meds, and they just tell me I have to make an appt with the doc and talk with him. That's why I was trying to avoid the whole "ask your doctor" thing and get some approximations until I can go see him. OK, I take Wellbutrin normally and haven't been taking it lately so I want to start it up again and pick a new quit date afterwards. How long should I be on it before I quit? Please don't tell me to ask my doctor because I can't talk to him for another couple weeks probably (that's a whole other story in itself). I would just like some approximations. A few days? A couple weeks? Ten days? Just some ideas please. TIA! Sweetie, just remember ... THIS IS YOUR QUIT! Dont let the negative people get to you. The only way to get where you are going is being positive, not angry at the world. You will quit when YOU are ready and not a minute before. You still have faith and hope or you wouldnt be still on this site looking for answers ;) I tried wellbutirin but it made my mouth so dry I couldnt stand it, being hypoglycemic it messed up my electrolytes and my sugar went through the floor then the roof. I can only suggest that you do research on the drug itself being used for smokers and contact the pharmacy. They are soooooo wonderful, it doesnt even have to be the one that you got the meds from. Just ask for a general time frame so that you have a time frame before you talk to your doc. When you do the quit you are gonna rawk the world! You obviously have the passion, I can read through the lines on that. Be strong, and dont let the angry negative people tinkle in your toasties! hugs Dawn My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/31/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 23 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 428 Amount Saved: $103.5 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 21 Mins: 59 Seconds: 36

Daytimemommy, No harm done. Do take Dawn's advice and call your pharmacist, he/she will be able to answer your question. :) Danielle ______________________ The SSC Support Team

Daytime mommy, Unfortunately, we do not discuss dosing of medications here at the SSC. Please consult your pharmacist or doctor concerning this matter as it varies from person to person according to their medical history and other factors. Sorry I couldn't be of more help but again it is against the house rules to discuss dosing of medication. Danielle _________________________ The SSC Support Team
