Hey Audrey, Remember your Dutch gf is with you too. I'm glad you feel better, a situation like that is really bad for a person. I have the same thing here in Holland. The people I work wit do smoke all day long and that is NOT allowwed by law. They don't care that I stopped. They just act as if I am the bad guy, although I don't complane or say anything about it. Our costumers complain though. When they come into our shop they say: Wow, it stinks like smoke here. But no one does anything about it. So, I have to live with it. One day I'll will get them back, not sure when that day comes. Hi Audrey, They are not giving you a good time huh? Maybe show them that you don't care what they do, that helped me at work. Hang in tight girl, you'll make it, I think you are just as stubborn as I am... Audrey - In another post I talked about how I made cookies from scratch last night. Following the recipe seemed to be a good distraction activity & allowed me a few cherished minutes craving-free. Anyway, I brought the cookies into work today - I knew that if I kept them I'd eat them all myself! Anyway, the point is, baking cookies from scratch might actually be helpful. Your new co-workers don't deserve it - but you do! Yep - Kill Them with Kindness, they will never know what hit them. And the cookies from the tube are fine, they are not worthy of the scratch recipe ! Things will get better, you have to be there everyday and soon they will realize this. Have a good day and know you have friends in other places. I don't know if this will help or not. Many years ago I got a job as a sales secretary. My Boss, the sales manager was known for a foul temper and generally just plain nasty. I was his 8th secretary in as many months. True to form, he treated like absolute dirt from minute one. One day he was very busy and basically ignored me, when he did speak to me, he didn't have time to be nasty, he was curt. At the end of the day I told him that I recognized that he hadn't been nasty to me all day and I appreciated it. He didn't say a single word. He was nice to me from that day on and I worked for him for a long time. Maybe something similar can help you. Audrey What could you do right now this very minute to lighten that atmosphere - sounds heavy for you so find a way of sheding that burden. Sounds like everyone needs to lighten up - what about taking a break and bringing you 2 nearest neighbours a cup of tea/coffee. Go easy and gently. Oh and by the way, in case you think I hadn't noticed - 42 days = 6 weeks - congratulations you. Oh Audrey..... it is them against us! First, if possible I would pretend you were on the phone talking to me... put your cell on vibrate and call that number, nobody will be the wiser. Then do a nice, not too loud laugh. Followed with these words...just loud enough for all of them to hear: "Oh, thanks for asking!" "The new location is great, yep, uhuh, Oh yes, everyone has welcomed me very warmly!" Well, if that don't throw em' into a guilt trip then I don't know what would! The cookies were boycotted??? OMG refusing a cookie ranks right up there with kicking a puppy!!! Rest assured I have put the bad karma hex on them and everything they touch today will turn to crapola!!! Hi Audrey, Are you suffering from excessive gas as part of your quit ?? here is your chance to expel some ! Sounds like they deserve it. But seriously, This sounds like a very tense environment. Please try to stay calm and protect your quit at all costs. I'm sure it will work out. Cookies! Bake cookies and distribute all around! I never had a cookie that didn't make me smile :) Unwind with relaxation at home and start each day fresh, bring more treats to win them over, or continue on your path and know that what you are doing is amazing!
