How do you reward yourself?

for 17 år siden 0 10 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
I heard this one from a friend of mine... She is going to have her teeth whitened. :) How cool is that? My teeth are blessedly white so it isn't a big motivator for me but if they weren't, that would be a biggie! I'm going to treat myself to hot baths with a good book, new clothes, trips to the gym, night out dancing, and some quiet time with my dear bf. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 11 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 176 Amount Saved: $55 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 3 Mins: 27 Seconds: 32

    Cigarettes Not Smoked

All these things we've missed because smoking was such a priority...amazing! Just the little things that pamper that we didn't have time for because of those ~20 cigarettes. I've gotten into my own little non-smoking routine which includes a lot of TV. I knew I needed to mix it up, and thank you all for your bits of advice for new appreciation. It's a whole new world, it truly is. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/16/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 17 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 355 Amount Saved: $47.6 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 17 Mins: 32 Seconds: 33

I realize its probably different for everyone. I haven't rewarded myself much simply because I haven't had to overcome any major hurdles. I know it is important though before I die of denial. Food is often telling me that it is a fine reward. But I need ideas other than food that are just as simple and satisfying. Maybe what some of you others do would click as just the thing for me. Thanks, Audrey :confuse: My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/16/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 17 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 352 Amount Saved: $47.6 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 17 Mins: 7 Seconds: 48

I bought myself a really cool treadmill. That way I can eat like a pig and walk it off for hours. It's really a win-win reward! I eat and don't gain a pound. I can finally breath deep again... -- 2tone My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/26/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 38 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,090 Amount Saved: $209 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 9 Mins: 27 Seconds: 54

Wow - Gonna...I bet you are the only one in SCC who rewarded themselves with a box of bullets! hehehehehe Maybe there should be a warning about not purchasing bullets for at least 3 weeks after quitting. Hi Audrey - The idea of rewarding ourselves was pretty foreign to alot of us but it is very important to our quits. Often we used cigarettes as a reward and the last thing we want to do is start to feel like we are being deprived.....plus rewards trigger the "pleasure" part of the brain and make us feel good. I used food as a reward too.......but other options have been: - booking an afternoon off work - pedicure or manicure (haven't done them yet) - buying a good book or magazine - window shopping (especially to pick out the BIG rewards for special milestones) - buying something just because I want it (and it can be little - I bought I shower curtain liner at a cost of under $10 instead of cleaning the old one) - climbing in bed with my remote - hot bath with a fruit smoothie - clothes for me/ new clothes for my hubby too Lots of people save up their money and buy big items (i.e. vacations, digital cameras, t.v.'s, etc.) while others practice smaller rewards on a regular basis. Hope you find the ones that work best for you! -A book I have been wanting to read. -A sinful food full of comfort and calories! -A long distance phone call for hours to a dear friend. -A trip to the hairstylist. -A brand new box of bullets. -An afternoon of hookey from work. -" " " " " and spent with my daughter at the park. -Extra lottery tickets...you never know... -New 'something'; underwear, socks, pj's, ........ -Special bath products and smell-goods. -Bread from the German bakery near work. Delish! -Vandalism (write your bosses home phone number on the gas station stall walls and/or order $100 of pizza from Domino's to be delivered to his house.) Whatever---it's your reward---make it worthwhile! I like to think of little things: Incense Candles An afternoon alone. A hot bath. A nice meal (I may have to make it, but then I get to cook seafood) Time to read a book Book the TV and Remote. Flowers (They last for a couple of weeks and are a constant reminder) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/10/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 23 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 475 Amount Saved: $264.5 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 9 Mins: 1 Seconds: 59
