Dear Jay,
Many people have anxiety about driving once they have been in an accident, your not alone in that. Have you told your Doctor about this, it is important that they know exactly how you have been feeling.
No crybabies here...just venting.
Keep posting.

I try to sit well when im at my pc...I was in a car accident about a month ago...I was t-boned on the driver side ( i was driving) I'm sure that has something to do with it too...Its that now sometimes when I have an attack i get that feeling and it just fuels the heart attack fear....what gets me is that..we all think the same thing is going to happen to us..the big fear is a heart attack or stroke..prob becasue of the symptoms...its just weird...I find myself not wanting to go anywhere now..I begin to feel nasusa when I go out in crowds..and Just last year I was the manager of a bar. This has really took a hold of my life..and up until my first attack..I was in control..now I feel like its being taken from me..from someting I can't beat...it's even making me paranoid at times that certian people are out to hurt me. It's just soooo......unfair.....geeesh..I hate sounding like a crybaby..that's really not who I am..I just needed to vent...sorry all :(
Hi Venik - I'm new. I know I get that tingling too, but I would check your posture at the computer - particularly, the distance between you neck and shoulders, and whether you are kind of scrunched.
hi yes i have definetly felt those feelings. i also think i'm having a heart attack or stroke when i have a pnic attack it sucks soooo much. and even though i've had them before and i should know exactly what is going on while it's happening i don't and i still think i'm having a heart attack but anyway i also get a weird pain like pins and needles in my left arm which makes me think i'm having a heart attack even more it's soo scary. so yes i have felt those feelings.
Absolutly, I often get the tension in the left shoulder, thats where many people carry their stress. Try a warm rag or a massage, or just stretching, that has worked for me .Hope it helps.
Jay....Smiley is right about the oxygen. My counselor told me last night that when are bodies go into panic mode it is preparing us for that "fight or flight" situation. Most of the oxygen in your blood stream is redirecting itself in order to prepare itself. This means that less oxygen rich blood is going to your hands, causing the tingling or numbness.
As for the breathing, inhale thru your noise to the count of 4...hold for 2 seconds...then exhale thru your mouth to the count of four. This sometimes takes a little practice but it will help slow your heart rate down and relax you.
Jay,
Alot of times the tingling in the hands is because you are not breathing properly. It is your body's way of telling you that you are not getting enough oxygen. Take slow deep breaths through your nose. Make sure your stomach rises with each breath and not just your chest. This way, you know you have gotten a full breath. The shoulder pain may be because you are tense. If that feeling gets worse or becomes bothersome, mention it to your Dr. Good Luck - it will get better! Come back and talk to us if you need to! ;p
I'm feeling almost a tightness in my left shoulder and arm right now..also a tingle in my hands. Thats new to me for my attacks...I am also feeling very disconnected...I'm sure it's just a Panic attack. But I get really scared any time I feel a new sensation with my attacks... My Anxiety has been pretty bad this week..odd...becasue I thought it has been getting better. My breathing is ok though. I'm trying to maintain control. I fear everytime I have a panic attack that I'm having a heart attack or stroke...This is like somelind of weird torture. Has anybody else have this tingle in the hands or tightness in the arm or shoulder....THIS JUST PLAIN SUCKS!! :(
