sometimes a bad day is just a bad day

for 17 år siden 0 49 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
I'm thinking that the time might be coming where I will have a bad day that cannot be blamed on smoking or withdrawal from smoking, or cravings to smoke. Even non-smokers have bad days and sick days don't they? and headaches and grumpiness and dry throat and cough and anxiety and nervousness and all that other stuff... The question is how do we figure out when our bad feeling is a result of something other than smoking or withdrawal or craving? I was a smoker for so long, I don't really know how to feel anything else. And I feel like I'm getting slightly conditioned to automatically blame any bad feelings on nic. Excellent Windy. I'm looking forward to that - when I'm not dwelling on it anymore - When smoking is not a reflex for dealing with a bad day. I'm having a pretty good day by the way. Yeah Stubborn, I've been thinking the same thing. I mean, we know that Nicodemon is bad but crap, let's not give him more credit than he's due. That's sort of like giving him more power than he actually has and he can be pretty strong all on his own. (Why do I refer to him as him? LOL) Maybe what's happening here is.....We'll wake up on the wrong side of the bed and WE blame it on the Nicodemon; someone really gets on our nerves and WE blame it on the Nicodemon; we have a stressful day at work and WE blame it on the Nicodemon, etc. It seems like by us doing that, we're empowering old Nic. Everyone has some really great stats. Lookin' sooooo good. My 2 cents is that we can blame nothing on nic. even the irritability experienced in the first stages is our reaction to the withdrawal. anything after that has to do with our adjusting to doing and feeling things w/o a crutch. all those bad feelings "associated with smoking" had to do with our telling ourselves "NO- you can't have one". In fact, once we get rid of that yolk, straight up bad feelings in response to situations outside ourselvles become A LOT easier. It looks like your transitioning into that - congrats on your milage. Hi Stubborn - Well...I just had a bad day (and it had nothing to do with smoking) For a brief time it crossed my mind that I might like to smoke my troubles away but the farther I get in my quit, the more crazy that idea seems. The challenge now is learning better ways of dealing with the stress that life sends out way. So........I don't know when it happened but sometime in the last couple months a bad day has just been a bad day. I'm cranky because I'm cranky and I'm happy because I'm happy and smoking doesn't have a whole lot to do with any of it. Hi, I'm not sure if there is a way to distinguish whether a bad day is stemming from the addiction or not, because yes, everyone has bad days at times, even people who have never smoked. There are times when having a bad day has absolutely nothing to do with the craves. What matters most is that you protect your quit. Great stats, by the way.
