I took Chantix for 8 weeks. I stopped of my own. I took them for 3 weeks before I quit. On my last week I cut the one pill in half. Worked for me. I was not nervous or anything. I read on another post that you had stopped your Chantix on your own, or did I misunderstand what you were saying? I had left my doctor a message that I wanted my dose cut down and she misunderstood me and thought I wanted to stop taking the drug now. She had her nurse call me back and tell me that you did not stop taking Chantix all of a sudden as it could/would make you very nervous. She said it had to be tapered off. She also wanted me to know that the highest success rate for this drug was the full twelve week treatment. Anyone know anything about how the drug is tapered off or if their is truth in my doctors words that it has to be tapered off?

Huny - I've heard both of those things: (1) The highest success rate is with those who take the full course of Chantix. (2) You shouldn't just stop the Chantix, but rather, should taper off. A taper will help your body to adjust & avoid side effects. Members, I have edited this title and put the thread in a different forum. Please use the IM Messenger to contact one another personally. Thanks for the information. Please continue to ask your doctor and pharmacist regarding medication dosages and side effects, as they know your medical history and can be of greater assistance.
