Hi Cjk, Wellbutrin as Lainey said is an anti-depressant that is used to help people stop smoking. It helps release a chemical in the brain that gives the euphoric feeling you would get from cigarettes. I believe it releases the dopamine in the brain giving you a good feeling about yourself that you don't think about smoking. Anyway this should only be taken by a prescription given by a physician. I tried it before to quit many years ago. I used to call it a happy pill and quit only for a couple of weeks and gave up because of a death close to me. Anyway I tried again a few years later an unfortunately I had a severe reaction to the medication and had to be rushed to the ER. It worked so well the first time and I regret giving up so soon back then. There can be some serious side effects to this medication if not taken properly. My sister recently tried Wellbutrin and it had the reverse reaction and it made a monster out of her. This is one of the potential side effects that is not good so.... Do some research hope this helps. Actually it is an anti-depressant that helps smoking taste awful. It is called Zyban in Canada. The smoking thing is a side effect. You can find out all about it on your computer's search engine. Hope this helps! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 65 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,636 Amount Saved: $685.75 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 21 Mins: 41 Seconds: 54

You should consult your doctor first before taking anything like this, as your doctor will know if it is a good thing for you to try. They can also advise you of side affects and whether or not it affects any other drugs you may be on. Good luck with your quit. This is one of the best places for support and advise. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 69 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,735 Amount Saved: $345 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 8 Mins: 30 Seconds: 17

Good Morning, I believe it alters the brains chemistry so that you don't get the uforic feeling when you smoke. Similar to Chantix, it targets the recepters in the brain. I have been using Chantix and it helped my out tremendously. You still have to want the quit and be able to be strong to get through the physcological part of quitting. But it does help. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 69 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,735 Amount Saved: $345 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 8 Mins: 30 Seconds: 6
