I do believe that the biggest reason that it is hard to stay quit is because we do not fully and totally believe that we are addicts. We think "Oh, an addict is somebody in an alley putting a needle in their arm or bum lying in on a bench with an empty bottle of cheap wine. That certainly isn't me." When we finally get the picture of US being addicts as much as these others, then it becomes quite clear that we can never, ever, ever have a single puff. Not One Puff Ever. Thanks for the post, that is my hardest challenge. This time no more "just one tonight and then no more". I have slid backwards so many times deluding myself that way.

Stay on Course and Make it Stick There is no denying that we can not allow ourselves to think we can have a smoke whenever we want to, take it or leave it. It happens not to work that way. One puff, one smoke leads to another one and then another . Then again we are face to face with going through withdrawals, cravings, desire, asking what happened to my companion, what am I going to do with my hands, what if I have a problem to solve who we help me solve it, how can I compose, how can I get through an emotional crises without you, and it goes on and on and on Do not torment yourself by revisiting smoking. You have broken away or are in the process of breaking away. You want to quit smoking and stay quit. Stay on Course and Make it Stick So, isnt it plain to see then that smoking is not an option? Try filling your mind with others thoughts so that it may take you to another place or moment in time. Buy yourself time enough to mend; find a way to do this. Time will heal you just provide mother the time she needs to complete this task. In the mean time, no puffing, stay focused, stay quit.
