I just wanted to share this as not only are you all the ones most able to appreciate where I'm coming from with this, perhaps it will serve as a reminder that we CAN overcome.
Last Friday I had one of the single most challenging and difficult days I've had at work in years.
I am not a person who gets stressed out easily or who gets angry very often at all.
And last Friday, I was flat out PISSED off. The day started immidiately at 8am with someone I didn't know getting right into the middle of a crisis I'd been working on since the previous day.
This person screwed things up worse than they had been to start with, and then called ME at 8am to start yelling at me and telling me I wasn't doing a very good job!!
The day got worse from there if you can believe it.
I actually had to leave for a while and go outside and clear my head it was so bad.
Later that day as I was talking to a co-worker about how rough the day had been going and how I was glad it was close to going home time - he said something that really hit me.
He said "Boy I bet you were wanting a smoke, huh!"
And it occured to me - not only did I never have that 'OMG I need a smoke' moment....
The fact that I HADN'T had that moment hadn't even struck me.
I hope you can understand what I mean, and I'm betting most of you can.
I've really gotten to the point that not only do I not think about smoking, I don't even realize I'm not craving at those times when I am at my worst.
That just really made my day when I realized that and suddenly I was in a mucb better mood. :)
It can be done, we can overcome, we will beat this.
N.O.P.E.
