As many will tell you, Chantix is amazing stuff for those who can take it. It has worked just as it is supposed to for me. I can't say I've had any real side effects, and I haven't had any slips. I am on my final month of pills, and looking forward to completing the program. My quit hasn't been all that difficult. I have no doubt that I have quit smoking forever, and the chantix helped get me get past the hard part.
Quitting really is a mental thing, and if you want to quit any method can help. But you have to want to quit more than you want to smoke. (I can understand that part now, but it didn't make much sense when I was a newbie.) I wasn't sure I could quit, and I wasn't truly sure I wanted to quit.
I am glad I tried the Chantix, and equally glad that I found this site. That combination made me want to quit, and helped me with the mental thing.
Words to live by? NOPE! and Brubakers post called Junkie Thinking, which is now posted on my refrigerator.
Good luck to all.
