Ive always been fascinated by the concept of time travel, and I absolutely love reading novels with the time travel premise, especially those that depict the travel back in time within ones life. I loved the whole Back to the Future series of movies and Ive often thought about What would I change if I could go back in time within my own life? Im 45 years old right now.
If you could be transported back in time to the year you were twenty, what would you do differently?
First, of course, I would definitely quit smoking! I would also watch what I ate and I would exercise on a regular basis. I would do all this so that I would not be out-of-breath, coughing, stiff, sore, overweight, and so terribly out of shape when I hit my forties.
I would do it all for myself, for my forty-five-year-old self in 2007.
Real quick, before you read on, answer the same question for yourself if you could go back 20 or 25 years, would you change to a healthier lifestyle? Would you?
Then it occurred to me a strange thought IMAGINE IF it was the year 2037 and I was seventy-five years old and very, very sick because of sixty years of smoking, and so overweight that I was barely able to move because of my inactivity and poor food choices WHAT IF in the year 2037 I was given the chance to transport back thirty years to RIGHT NOW
What would I do differently at age 45? Well, of course my answer was: The exact same things that I said I would do at age 20! I would quit smoking and eat healthier and I would undo that additional thirty future years of damage to my body.
I would do it for myself, for my seventy-five-year-old self in 2037.
Okay, so I didnt actually time travel from 2037, but I can still do this now for the person I will be then. I owe it to the person I will be then, not to miss this opportunity to act as if I DID travel back in time, and give that person a chance at living longer and more comfortably.
Im a time traveler, by attitude anyway. :eg:
