morning anxiety attacks

Kayla....if this is a result of dropping the dosage on the patch, it will eventually pass......were you on the 21mg the recommended period? I stayed on each dose for 4 weeks. personally I would not advise you to go cold turkey at this point. (you mention Monday...you certainly can't get through cold turkey cravings between now and monday) I would advise you to stick right with your program....the patches DO work when used as directed....they take the "edge" off the cravings....with that help you then practice distracting yourself. Don't let yourself simply sit and think about the quit. The junky in you loves it if he can get you thinking about smoking....the more you think about it the nearer he comes to being able to control your thinking. Going there is to draw near to giving in. So boot him out of your mind. and Kayla....be sure to reward yourself for all this hard work....you DO deserve it! hang tough and continue to kick that monsters butt! Casey thanks for the advise. I read that post several times and it does help. The feeling has past as it has before. I can't wait for it to go away for a period of time. I'm going to take a walk and look for a gym that doesn't require a yearly membership to work off the stress!! Changing,in all honesty when my boyfriend and daughter are here I am more stressed out. I've been having relationship issues with him and he's suppose to move out anyway and my daughter is 14 years old need I say more those wonderful teenage years. That's why this weekend might be good and relaxing, I can do things for myself without having to hear "what's for dinner, do you have to go for a walk, are you on that computer again etc,,,,," Tomorrow I'm going with my mother to the casino and she's a pleasure to be with and she's really proud of my quit. She never thought I could do this and she's a great support. What I wonder is quitting the patch going to be like I started my quit all over again or will it be somewhat difficult but not as bad. Sometimes I feel like I'm cheating being on the patch and frankly I don't want any kind of nicotine in my system. Does that make sense? Kayla - If no one is home this weekend, won't that mean no distractions? If you do decide to go off the patch (and I don't know whether/not you should), would it be better to do it at a busy time so you're distracted & busy? Hi Changing and Lainey, Yes, in the last few days I went from 21mg to 14mg. I'm sure it's part of the reason. I'm seriously considering going cold turkey at this point and deal with the full withdrawal effect to get on with my life. Smoking is not an option for me. I know myself well enough to know that if I even smoke one I will never attempt to quit again.I have quit other addictions in my life and never picked up again, but this by far has been the hardest. This weekend would be a good time because my boyfriend went out of state and my daughter doesn't come back til Monday. What do you think about stopping the patch all together? I'm not under any medical care requiring me to discuss this with my doc. I'm doing this for me. Kayla, if you just recently stepped down from 21 mg of the patch, that is in all likely hood the reason for your problem. I have used the patch many times before, and yes every time you take a step down there is a couple or three days of discomfort. So hang in there, use your back ups strategies, deep breaths ,straw, whatever for the next day or towo and it will all pass you by! Smoking is not an option! NOPE :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 32 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 810 Amount Saved: $337.6 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 21 Mins: 56 Seconds: 2

Kayla - First of all, Congratulationson THREE WEEKS! What a huge accomplishment - feel proud my friend! Now, about the anxiety - I can definitely relate. Some things that help me - a hot shower or bath, walking (fast-paced for at least 15 minutes), a few minutes of practiced deep-breathing. Also, maybe the 14 mg patch is too much - depending on how long you've been on this dosage patch, you might try cutting it down. Keep us updated on how you're doing! I don't know if anyone else is going through this but the last couple of mornings I've had cravings to the point I can taste it. I do things to keep my mind off smoking and at this point I can't go back. Because of this though I'm getting heart palpitations which I've had in the past stress related. I also am now on 14 mg on the patch and I don't know if this has anything to do with it. It last for about an hour then I get so busy at work I forget about it, now I'm at home Friday morning with the day off and that feeling hasn't left. I even did push ups and cleaned and I still taste it. Any advise would help. I wish everyone a wonderful smoke free Easter and thanks for everything in advance.!!!
