I screwed up.

Tessa, Boy, I know that feeling for I havae tried quitting about 6 times and screwed up all the time. Today is day on on my new attempt to quit. I can imagine you are nervous with all you are doing with the upcoming wedding and all. But, acne can be covered and is nowhere near as important as the quitting smoking and your wedding ahead. Best wishes to you as a non smoking bride!

planning and going through a wedding is going to be stressful...period. Waiting to smoke, looking for a place to smoke, knowing you stink like an ashtray??? if you ask me, that's MORE stress than just saying NO. throw the smokes away...get back on the wagon....there will NEVER be what an addict considers an ideal time to stop! Tessa, s*** happens - dont beat yourself up about the relapse. I know everyone is telling you to quit again immediately, however Im not sure if thats practical right now. Planning and going through a wedding is pretty stressful but its also a great time of your life. if you did wait until after the wedding, your first months of marriage would be tough - so its one of those "there never is a perfect time" situations. I think you've got to be committed to it when you do quit again - only you know what you have to do and when. Either way, have a great wedding and remember to enjoy the actual wedding day. Im a 41 yrs old, and I have had a week or 2 of on and off acne. Never really had an acne problem in my life. While growing up I had the occasional break out - but never an issue. this is ridiculous at 41 - but it sounds like it will pass. once again all the best for everything My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/2/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 81 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,632 Amount Saved: $295.65 Life Gained: Days: 11 Hrs: 21 Mins: 27 Seconds: 4

I'm sorry to hear about your slip Tessa but I'm sure you'll be back on the wagon when you are ready! I had a similar problem with my complexion. I had full blown acne even though I'd never had it before. I'm still battling it but tonnes (and I mean tonnes) of benzol peroxide and a script for differin from my doc are helping. I'm also using everyday minerals makeup. It works wonders in terms of coverage and is cheap cheap cheap. Hope that helps.... Hi Tessa, I don't think that you are a loser. You have not started smoking full force yet, so don't start now. You know that you don't want to. Don't even finish that pack, we have all wasted money before, besides, that would just be an excuse to finish them. Maybe your zits are not smoking related. Could be stress. I too had clear skin until I hit my 30's and hormones change (don't know your age, shot in the dark.) Drink lots of water, it will help alot. Anyway, get back on the horse. We need you here to keep us posted on your smoke free wedding! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/8/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 74 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,119 Amount Saved: $310.8 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 21 Mins: 42 Seconds: 16

Tessa - Go soak those coffin nails in water and then throw them in the trash. You do not want to be a smoking bride! Nor do you want to be in Hell Week for your wedding. So, do it now! I know that I'm suppose to tell you to quit when you're ready, etc. But I'm feeling rather pushy today! ;) You mentioned all of the pressure in planning your wedding. How have you felt since smoking those first few butts on Day#54? It sounds like you've been struggling hard with cravings & guilt & mental angst about smoking....To me this sounds like more pressure than you'd have if you were smokefree? Tessa.....get rid of the smokes! You have only slipped up so far....if you continue, you will slide clear into a relapse. Even now you are playing with reasoning that works FOR the junky. You haven't failed and you are NOT back to square one....you have spent 53 days smoke free!!! for cripe's sake grab onto that and get back on the wagon. If the acne is such a factor, go see the doctor....I'll bet my last buck that he can help keep your complexion clear!!! Get back on NOW....don't wait....the longer you wait the tighter the addiction takes hold don't go down the aisle smellin' like a dirty ashtray!!! katy My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/4/2002 Smoke-Free Days: 1904 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 76,182 Amount Saved: $10852.8 Life Gained: Days: 251 Hrs: 4 Mins: 12 Seconds: 20

Tessa, First understand that smoking is an addiction. The power you hold over it pertains to whether you feed into it or not. This takes time to learn. I'm sorry to hear you relapse but now is the time to learn from this experience and keep going. Don't be mistaken, you do have willpower! You do have what it takes! Start giving some thought on how you'll manage your stress triggers this time around and let us know if we can help. As for the increase in acne, this is due to chemical changes occuring in your skin. Take the time to consult with a beautician or dermatologist. Together, you can come up with a good skin care regiment that will be helpful until your skin regains its natural balance. We are cheering you on!
