Gilthanas, I`m not from Aus, but I have had the exact same mindset. I think I have just started to come out from under that cloud somewhat, and what has worked for me is to focus more on my activity and not my inactivity. I was just biding my time before doctor`s appointments, I realized, because I hadn`t been giving myself enough credit for my own insights and knowing what is in my best interests. Being tired physically and mentally can rob you of that confidence. You obviously have a good sense of what is happening to you and what you want/need to change. I have just started cognitive-behavioral therapy, and it gives me more of a sense of direction and purpose than simply chatting about what worries me and being handed meds. I now keep track of when I take my meds., what my sleeping patterns are, etc. I`m just beginning to improve keeping tabs on my anxious behavior (i.e. what I am thinking and when), my diet, and the amount of activity or inactivity which is both helpful and counterproductive for me. Things do get better as you go along, just don`t bite off more than you can chew at one time. Best wishes to you!

Gil, going on meds does help, but you also have to get therapy. The only way to conquer this is to use a combination of treatment. It is hard , but the cycle can be stopped, you just have to find what works for you. Maybe you need to up your dosage of meds or try a different one. Gilthanas, I definatley feel like I'm trapped in a repetitive cycle and sometimes feel like theres no way out and I'll never achieve great things. I think thats just part of the Agoraphobic negative thinking pattern. On dark days I can't see a way out but on days like today when I'm feeling better I somehow know that one day there will be a way out of this, I won't be free of Agoraphobia but I know it will be better and manageable one day and I will be able to do the things I want to. I'm not from Aussie but close, New Zealand here. What part of oz are you from?

Yes, I've felt that way. The med really works for a while and then the old habits start to creep back in. I have found that when the med is working it's best, instead of coasting with it, that's the time you need to practice changing your thoughts. That way you will be more prepared to face the problems when they come. I do get sick of the repetition, but it does get better! Hang in there, keep getting all the info that you can on panic and anx and you will find something that helps you out of this! It WILL get better!!!!

anyone ever go on medication started feeling better then get back into the same old habits of not going places always feeling on edge and loosing sleep do things get better? how many people feel like there trapped in a repetition and will never amount to anything and always be alone? anyone from aus here?
