I read somewhere on this site that tobacco companies have actually raised the nicotine level content in cigarettes :8o: Of course the tobacco companies don't want us to succeed, it's in there interest to get us hooked & keep us hooked bad. All i can say is get out now while you still can ! Tobacco companies do not want us to succeed. If they did, they would lower the nicotine in the cigarettes as well as the other poisonous ingrediants. Just knowing that, it makes me want to quit. They won't get another dime from me! Here's some additional stats I found : Almost all the members of the RJ Reynolds family died of smoking-related causes - lung cancers, emphysema, other cancers, etc... And one of the founder's remaining living grandsons, Patrick Reynolds is an anti-smoking advocate now! The RJ Reynolds website has a list of their guiding beliefs and principles. Among them were: Smoking causes serious disease. (yah think?) No tobacco product has been shown to be safe. (Nice admission) Nicotine in tobacco products is addictive but is not considered a significant threat to health. *** (Notice they say NICOTINE, nothing about tar or the other chemicals in cigs) The best course of action for tobacco users concerned about their health is to quit. (That's all of us, folks) Minors should never use tobacco products and ADULTS WHO DO NOT USE OR HAVE QUIT using tobacco products SHOULD NOT START. (So who should use them? Just us poor souls already addicted?!) Individuals should rely on the conclusions of the U.S. Surgeon General, the Centers for Disease Control and other public health and medical officials when making decisions regarding smoking. Amazing isn't it? During the 20th century, smoking killed about 100 million people worldwide. Tobacco kills one person every ten seconds and is set to kill ten million people a year by 2025. World Health Organization Half of all smoking-related deaths occur between the ages of 35 and 69, which translates into an average of roughly 23 years of life lost. Every 30 seconds someone somewhere in the world dies of lung cancer. It is the ninth most common cause of death in the world and the most common form of cancer. Each year 1.25 million people die from it. Insurance companies have estimated that smoking a single cigarette lowers ones life expectancy by 10.7 minutes. That means in smoking a pack of 20 cigaretts life is shortened by more than three and a half hours. Each year more Americans die from smoking-related diseases than from abuse, car accidents and homicide combined. 390,000 Americans die each year from the effects of cigarette smoking. Smoking has been responsible for 16% (or 1 in 6) of all deaths in the U.S. each year. Cigarettes are the most heavily advertised products in the U.S. Tobacco companies spend over $5,000 per minute on advertising and promotion of tobacco products. Smoking costs the nation $65 billion per year in health-care costs and lost productivity that's $262 per American per year. About 40 percent of Americas 50 million smokers will try to kick the habit at least once this year. Fewer than one in ten will succeed. Center for Disease Control and Prevention I WILL SEE TO IT THAT I AM ONE OF THE 10 THAT SUCCEED. WE CAN DO THIS!!!
