Rd Man The Quit and all the Stories

Phillip- very interesting indeed. Now, I will admit I'm more of a glass half empty person than the half-full type, so please understand I'm aware of my attitude. I'm sure this is a real surprize to anyone who has read my posts since I'm always so optimistic and flowery!!! The 12-step thing is interesting, and while I am a Christian, I don't really think God is going to make it all better. I bought into smoking and now I must own up to MY REPEATED DECISION to smoke. The devil didn't make me do it; even Phillip-Morris didn't. I did it. And now, what....God is going to make me wake up a born-again non-smoker? However, if faith in one's self is not enough and faith in a higher power somehow convinces the brain of an individual that A higher power makes up for it, then great. Some people believe in and swear by acupuncture and hypnosis, both of which were utter failures for me. From my half empty bad attitude position, and in light of all the crap going on in this world with no apparent divine intervention, I feel that helping me with smoking is hardly number one on the creator's mind. It's up to me, me alone. I will, however, thank God when this is at a point where I can say I have no more cravings. I am really proud of you, myself, and everyone on this site and whether you relate it to faith in any of the above, or something else, the bottom line is we're doing it. And if you have a bad day and act less than you normally would, so be it. This sucks and we're only human. N.O.P.E. Nice to be 50 , huh?! Good job, Phillip. I'm checking in once in a while and reading your "book", so watch it! Sometimes this place in and of itself has too many triggers so I am avoiding it a bit, but don't think you're getting away with anything! Hi Riverdale Man- Find a second or two of quiet, I had to take a few "time outs" this weekend and they really helped, especially when they went with a walk... Hang in there! Hi Phillip, I know that YOU know that however you feel right now, smoking would not help one bit. I'm sorry you've felt bad the past few days. It sounds like you know that this will pass and it WILL, just like it did those first few days, and after week one, and so on. I DO think that if you swam and stayed in your normal routine you'd feel better (especially with the sweating stuff, I've been getting that too and showering pretty manically to feel normal), but yes by all means mope, sleep and post if that's what you need to do until you are through this! You've become a key player on this board, and I'm selfish and I'll need you to kick my butt later! ;) Hang in there, thanks for posting My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 25 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 204 Amount Saved: $75 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 17 Mins: 57 Seconds: 39

Thank you Sunshine!!! I do believe anything worth doing is worth doing well...My sentiments exactly about anything I do. I am lovin not smokin!!! I am looking forward to cutting down the patch amount. I am luckier than most, all the people I know and associate with, or most of them, are ex-smokers and big supporters including my husband. He quit 22 years ago. In fact, when I tell people I quit, I have found out how many used to smoke. Thank you for your blessings. This family is going to need them. Riverdale Man I find you to be such an inspiration. I too am on the eve of 28 days. I don't think about smoking much, usually just first thing in the morning and I get on this site. Today I have been here reading longer than usual. I don't write much, but I sure do read alot. I always wondered what would happen in a case of extreme pressure or bad news. Well I found out last night. My husband's cousin, was stabbed and killed by her 22 year old daughter spaced out on Meth..The last thing I thought about was smoking. I consider that a real accomplishment for me a 35 year smoker, smoking was always the first thing I did when there was bad news, stress and you know the rest. On the bright side, a lady and her daughter came into our store to discuss wedding flowers. The mom smoked and I could hardly stand the smell. I came home and asked my husband if I smelled that bad. See, I never smoked in the house, or the car, always outside. I don't want people to say things like that about me. Right now I am feeling very proud of myself, very sad but proud. Everyone here has so much to give. I probably sound like I am rambling, sometimes its hard to put it all in some kind of order - my thoughts- Saturday I go down to the l4 mg patch and I am determined to get through this with all of your help out there. Right now I am sitting in Southern Wisconsin watching it SNOW!!!!! Ok I'm done now. Thanks for all you guys do and say!!!! Hats off to you Riverdale Man. I have the same quit day and today is two weeks for me too. Had my first tension test yesterday, anger frustration and all that and I got through it, telling myself a cigarette isn't going to make me feel better. This seems to have been the right time and place for me to quit. Doing great, feeling better, and feeling mighty proud of myself. Happy l4 days!!!!
