The first week your on chantix and smoking you are actually going through withdrawals which can make you feel the way you are feeling now.
That first week i was on chantix was worse than when i stopped the cig's all together. I was tired and edgy. Remember Chantix stops the nicotine from going to your brain so even though your smoking you are going through withdrawals.
good luck!

I am on my 5th day of Chantix, have gone from 2 packs a day to smoking 12 yesterday. Today I am very anxious...feel almost angry inside...Listening to Feng Shui, deep breathing...it is still there.. Anyone else with this?? The first 4 days I was in an Amazingly great mood...

Also a Chantix quitter here! Chantix is a nicotine inhibitor. It prevents the nicotine from reaching your brain. The first week on your starter pack, you are actually going through withdrawal. Day 8, your quit day, the dosage increases and you should notice that abstinence is easier than you expected (because you have already gone through most of the physical withdrawal while smoking the week before). The next 11 weeks you are working at altering your smoking behaviors and reconditioning your responses to smoking stimuli.
So, if your grouchy....it's normal! Keep the quit! It is SOOOOOO worth it!

Thank you for your reply. I agree with you about the quit date. When I put that quit date, wasn't sure how the Chantix was going to react. You are right about the taste also. YUCK!

Lavndr - it does sound like you are starting to go through nicotine withdrawal. You may also find that your cigs don't taste so good and you aren't getting anything out of them. This is how Chantix helps you - you get some of the withdrawal out of the way while you still smoke.
You actually might want to consider pushing your quit date up a little closer. You're almost there!

lav,
Take the time to check with your doctor and pharmacist to get the whole picture. They can help with side effects and dosages.
Also take some you time and relax yourself. your body is trying to heal itself and its need its rest too!
