Audrey,
glad to hear so far so good!
Yes, I (right now) feel like 12 weeks is too long, also. I'm ready to be done NOW. But, I'm using all this time to expand my comfort zones and, yes, get used to being a non-smoker. So, where on previous quits I avoided triggers, this time I'm actively seeking them out: going to the bar, going camping, hanging with smoking friends, we're taking a road trip in two weeks, etc. I figured there wasn't ever going to be a better time to have the "first time I'm doing this as a non-smoker" experience than now, while I'm still on the Chantix.
But, yeah, I'm astounded at how *rarely* I think about cigarettes now, at "only" 48 or so days. I know it was NOT like this on my last quit attempt, which was cold turkey, and made it almost 3 months. I mean, it's been weeks since I've had those "automatic" thoughts of smokes when I get in the car, or get my coffee, or whatever. Truly, my thinking patterns in a LOT of areas now are like I never smoked at all.
Except, of course, all those "yet to do this as a nonsmoker" things, which is why we are rushing out to do them! Which also serves as a treat for me because it's mini trips, and nights out to eat, and nights out clubbing and all that, all falling under the guise of me telling my husband "we need to do XYZ so I can experience it as a nonsmoker" and him saying yes.
I think next I have to push for "well, I need to take a long flight as a nonsmoker, haven't done that yet". :) Maybe to hawaii or something!
I'll still be waiting to hear if a shoe drops on you in the next few days from the lack of Chantix, but thanks so much for posting. You've REALLY added to the relief from anxiety I've been also getting from other posters who have quit chantix.
