Craves do subside...

Thank you for this post. Not overboard at all! I actually learned to play Suduko during my first week not smoking. Had never played it before but wanted a handheld game to keep my hands busy during a crave. Found that I really enjoy Suduko also! Newbies, this does in many ways get easier. I smoked for 45 yrs. and quit in Jan. this year. No, I am not saying everything has been easy. In the beginning, the craves, the fits, the anger, etc. was all very real and time comsuming. What I did was just fight thru each one. I did a lot of Sukodu to keep mind and hands busy. Actually got pretty good at it.. You can't ever give up and give in. When you make a small slip, the demon starts chanting' there is a chance for me'. The next few craves will be harder. Believe me, I walked that line twice. So make up your mind that you are doing to do this--and fight each crave. It will begin to get easier after a few really good knock-down dragouts. And that is when you don't want to let up.. Just keep punching and fighting the nicodemon and suddenly from out of the blue, you will realize that you have not had a crave all day. It is a glorious feeling. Now that devil will periodically try again, but the crave is so mild by that time that you will barely notice. I am saying all this because last week, I was very ill. I was even in the hospital for 2.5 days. After I got home, it dawned on me that at no time during any of this did I crave a cig. (at hospitals, in the past I have pulled the little IV pole outside many times) Not one crave.... I just can not believe it... So newbies, hang in there... You can do this.... If I can, you can. Just keep busy doing the things you like-- don't give them up if they are a trigger---work thru it. (this part I did not do and things I use to love, I don't do anymore.)
