It's so good to see all my Smober friends again!!! Hey everybody! It's like a big reunion! Oh how I miss you all and will always cherish the times we spent on here in our early days! FOr me, life is great! I had a bad weekend last weekend when my grandfather passed away. But I can honestly say that smoking did not cross my mind even once! Smoking is a very faint memory now... like that ex that you look back on and remember the good times fondly, but still are puzzled at why you stayed with him/her so long! I couldn't be happier with my smoke free life and I'm so glad to see all of my old friends who feel the exact same way! Thanks Lady for starting this thread! Crave the Quit! Hi Lady and all quitters, oldies and newbies, I only hope that by using the term oldie, you mean long term quitter and not people long in the tooth. I feel much younger now that I have quit smoking for almost two years. So whats new with old smogs ? The oldies may remember that I quit smoking when my wife ran away with the milkman, threw me out the house and sold my car. Why? Because I was made redundant with ten years still to go before retrial age. So dont let anyone tell you that you cant quit smoking under stress Since my annus horribilis, I have bought a new home and car, found a better job, dont smoke and keep myself to myself. Im determined that no drug or unfaithful dame is ever going to ruin my health again. Thirty five years of two bad habits is enough for any person. Whats it like being quit after almost two years? Do I still crave the odd fag ? Naw .. but in old Smog fashion, I will tell you a recent true happening. Four weeks ago, it was a lovely day so I took a detour over a road that I had never driven before. The road was narrow and twisted its way up the side of a mountain. Near the top was a place for a couple of cars to park, and a wooden bench. I stopped to admire the view. There was not another person within ten miles, the peace and quite was as beautiful as the scenery. I looked over at the wooden bench and saw a packet of cigarettes lying on the seat. Something stirred in my head and I just knew the packet wasnt empty. I walked over and picked it up, shook it and found it was half full. I guess it must have fallen out of someones pocket as they too admired the view. I opened the packet and took one out. It is the first time since I quit that I have held a cigarette. Some other thoughts started running through my mind. I could smoke one and high on this mountain, no one would ever know. I could sit and admire the view a little longer by smoking one. Then the thoughts left as soon as the started. I put the packet back on the seat and drove away After two years, I realised that it is easier to say NO that it is to say YES A true story from someone who doesnt smoke Thanks for the nod and wink My Lady, glad to see things are working out for you as well. I hope everyone else can kick the habi

Hi All! Smogs what a great story. Flatlander that was a great post! Brenna, my hero! Oh my gosh! MC, Duffis, 3galeh! Everyones comin home! Wendy thats 2 years I see on your stats! Hooray and CONGRATULATIONS! Bugg! Huggs to my weird sister. N2K how wonderful 2 see U. John W! Youve always been an Oldie but Goldie to me LOL. Hi Janet, Ill bump up a couple of posts where I compiled some good info from other quitters. What a great opportunity to help others. Lady, youve had some great ideas, but this one was fabulous! Truly enjoyed seeing so many of the old gang. Quitting smoking = FREEDOM from embarrassment, constant worry, constant craving, stinky breath and clothes and cars and houses, shortness of breath, etc. Its truly the greatest gift youll give yourself. Going to Australia this summer to visit my son. Its a 22 hour plane trip, and guess who WONT be freaking out because of nicotine cravings? Hooray for all of us for FINALLY kicking the habit that kills. Not cravin', never cavin'.
